I wonder if it is a good idea to get a DNA fragmentation and oxidisation test done on husbands sperm. I don’t know the recent figures off hand but they were pretty bad - we were having ICSI.
The embryologist seems to think the sperm looked ok….and blamed the eggs...but Im so not convinced. Husband will not recognise that there could still be issues - (doesn’t understand the nhs tests are so basic - any tips on making him do so would be welcome!!!)
It feels like it’s the one thing within control that can be tested, and perhaps improvements made before involvement in another EXPENSIVE round and waste of eggs
Considering MILD ivf…..or picsi
Results from previous below -
Round one: Two out of three fertilised but didn’t make it past 3/4 cells or cleavage stage ( which might have been day 4 yes)
Round two: Only one fertilised normaly and made it to early blast. One disintegrated on injection and two did nothing when injected. Calcium ionophore was used. Very confusing

I am in the same situation. My fertility clinic is blaming my ‘old’ low quality eggs (based on my age) but I keep hearing here it could be the sperm quality as well. We had tests for dna fragmentation plus other advanced semen tests done abroad - it is just so much cheaper there. The tests didnt show any dna fragmentation or oxidation. However my partners sperm contains 96% antibodies which might not or might be an issue but the fertility clinic thinks it is no problem since we opted for ICSI anyway. So we dont really know - it could be my old low quality eggs or just a bad luck… I will be having another IVF round soon and both me and my partner are taking loads of supplements so we’ll see if it makes any difference. If we were getting a fertility treatment abroad, they would treat my partner as well (we had one consultation abroad) but here, they dont think it is necessary.
we did sperm dna fragmentation after multiple early miscarriages including blighted ovum (not through ivf) it came back as high dna damage (surprised him as he has 2 children from previous marriage) so husband went on menevit supplements for 3 months prior to starting ivf. We did ICSI and got 9 blastocysts which we then had dna tested and got 5 good embryos.
