Low grade success stories!

Morning all,

Just wondered if anyone can share any stories regarding their success with lower grade embryos, in particular 4bc cb.

I know grading is subjective and isn’t always an indication of success.

Currently age 36, naturally conceived DC from a twin pregnancy and 3 previous failed transfers, none of which implanted;

5ab

5bb

3bb

I was told on my last fet that I could have a double transfer, but opted for set. But I am seriously considering a double this time round.

Not in the hope of twins but in the hope one will implant. Although if twins that would be fine too with regards to finance support etc. Obviously I’d always be worried regarding health implications and preterm birth.

Any stories or advice would be much appreciated as I am currently on day 4 of my cycle awaiting transfer.

Thank you x

I'm currently 13+3 with 3bc and none of the higher grades had implanted prior to this one sticking. Wishing you all the best with your upcoming transfer x

Thank you and congratulations on your success. This definitely gives me hope. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy. Can I please ask how many transfers you had prior to this one? x

Thank you - I had 2 FETs before this one with a 4ba and a 1st grade 3 day embryo that was thawed and developed to a blast (can't remember the grade but was def better than 3bc!) by the day of transfer.

We really didn't think it would work and were embracing ourselves for another round of egg collection, so it was a real surprise. As they say, if they were good enough to be frozen they're good enough! Crossing everything for you x

Third time luck then!

This definitely gives me hope as I’m determined to have a positive mindset throughout.

Thank you x

I would take grading with a pinch of salt. My first round was NHS and the embryologist waxed lyrical about the quality of our embryos - used words like 'perfect' and 'textbook' (I half expected they would end up in some embryology magazine 😀). We did get a BFP off a transfer of one of them but it didn't last and turned out never to have developed very much. That was pretty crushing given the expectations we'd been given. Had to move to a private clinic as we only got one NHS round and did another round - they had a policy of not telling you the grading, just that they were good enough to transfer or freeze. I assume the first they transferred still looked the best but the same thing happened as with the first. I asked about grading and they said they just all looked good and that was it. The next one took immediately and was successful and I assume it was deemed lower quality than the first, but who knows. There are so many factors at play and grading is just one and I think it can be very subjective, and change. On double transfers, when trying for a sibling they wouldn't let me do a double transfer because they said I'd had implantation and success before, and the risk to mum and babies was too great weighed against the small odds of it helping one or both to make it. They said they'd only do it if I'd had three BFNs and nothing else. Not that this is the right for everyone, but in a way I think their approach on both grading and double transfers took a lot of the pressure and worry off me as it was definitive and out of my hands.

Thank you for your response. And I’m so sorry for your previous losses but glad you had a successful pregnancy. I think your clinic was right as a lot would agree that knowing their grading only adds to the stress. I personally would say I’m quite strong and have dealt with the BFN’s very well. I’d love more children, but I also don’t want to be doing cycles endlessly either xx

My FET was with a 4BC. I did have it PGTA tested and it was euploid. Currently 28 weeks pregnant. All previous transfers failed 3BB, 2BC and 4AA.Good luck with your transfer!

Thank you so much. This gives me hope. Huge congratulations on your pregnancy. I hope the remaining weeks are kind to you.

I’m still a while away. But this time in between usually goes quite quickly. I’ll be sure to update on here whatever the outcome.

Thank you xx

We only ever got two embryos from our egg collections and I’m now 25 weeks pregnant with the last one which had the grading 5BC. Very best of luck to you! X

Just goes to show grading is only one element that can attribute to a successful pregnancy x

I am 18 weeks along with a pgs normal day 6 BC embryo . The C grade was for trophectoderm and B for inner cell mass part. Overall fair grade.

Thank you for your response. That’s brilliant news. Really hopeful that this will be our success. Particularly as the age gap for a sibling is rapidly increasing x

My beautiful daughter sitting on my lap was considered a very "weak" graded embryo. She is our miracle. We did transfer 2, and she stuck. We had tried for 10 years!!! many strong embryos never took

So glad you got your miracle after such a long time. Truly precious. Thank you for your reply. I’m hoping for DET with the hope one sticks.

Enjoy your beautiful girl x
