Antibiotics or other meds before puncture?

Are you prescribed any antibiotics or other medications to prevent infection and OHSS after the puncture?

I am going to have the second puncture soon and no antibiotics are given again. I wonder if it is the same in other clinics.

Hi, do you mean antibiotics after the egg collection? They did it at my clinic (NHS hospital), it was through the IV drip, not oral tablets. I was sedated and don't remember but the doctor told me prior to being sedated that he would give antibiotics after the procedure.

I see. I believe that I will also receive antibiotics with the IV drip, but I was wondering whether it is good idea to start with tablets prior to puncture.

they definitely give antibiotics course if got ohss even mild symptoms they give injection for that as well.

What kind of injections are given for OHSS? I had OHSS in my previous cycle and they didn't do anything.

our clinic dont give antibiotics anymore, as standard unless high risk of infection they used to but had data to show it was pointless for most so don’t do it now xx
