Short Luteal Phase

A big hello to this lovely forum,

I've been a member for about 6 years and have responded to a few questions over that time but I've never felt brave enough to post my own question.

I'm lucky enough to have a little boy after 3 transfers ( 2 collections, 1 ectopic, 1 BFN) and now we have one 6 day blast remaining. I have my nurse planning meeting this week as we are hoping to do our final FET for a sibling later this month.

I have been tracking my ovulation and I seem to ovulate on 17th/18th day and my period usually arrives on day 26/27 (was day 30 a before pregnancy). My lining at my baseline scan was 6.2mm on day 11.

I am just wondering whether anyone else has a short luteal phase and what that meant for them when going through treatment. Does it just mean more meds? Or is there anything I should/ could have been doing to stretch the phase out? Any advice/stories would be great!

Thanks and wishing everyone the best of luck x

Hi lovely,

Pre-IVF and pregnancy I had a really short luteal phase - I would start spotting sometimes as early as 2 days after ovulation. While we were TTC this was an issue as obviously there was never long enough for any fertilised egg to implant.

Turns out my tubes were blocked so this was completely moot anyway and we went ahead with IVF.

But in terms of IVF if you're doing a medicated cycle then it won't matter at all as you'll be taking all the meds needed to support your uterus lining and to stop ovulation.

xx

Hey Millbanks, thanks for your reply! That's really interesting, I genuinely can't believe how many factors are at play at any one time. My previous FETs have been non medicated other than progesterone after transfer, so this is all new to me. I'm just trying to chill and go with the flow but we all know how easy that is🤣
