Hope everyone is good as can be. For the ones struggling with the whole holiday season, im with you! 🙋🏽♀️
Just was wondering if any of you have super long luteal phase? Reason i ask is because i cant find much abt it.
I had a scan on the 2nd and gynaecologist said i ovulated from my right ovary. So confirmed ovulation. Even if that happend on that day i will be 21dpo with no sign of aunt flow (and yes i keep doing tests on months like these but al bfn)
Hey there sorry yo be unhelpful but I am in the same boat. I saw a gynae about 2 weeks ago. I did ovulation tests on the clear blue kit for 21 days from day 8 and no surge. Did the US and he said the same thing. Ovulated from the right. I should have started a period yesterday but no sign at all. I only went to a gynae because I thought I was in menopause. I am so hot all the time and periods moved to a 24 day cycle for 3 months so I thought it was stopping. I am also 40! So being in menopause didn’t seem like a stretch. A longer luteal phase? Does that mean eggs are taking longer to Mature
Thanks Leo. To be honest nothing surprises me anymore and i dont think age is relevant as ive seen gurls in here younger than 40 being pre menopausal. Ive never heard this is the case for me. Not even sure how they would test that. Ive always heard my amh is normal. I suspect hormonal imbalance as i do have thyroid problems x x
Hey lovely. No def not pregnant. When doing ivf i get a bfp from day 6 onwards so its def not that. I dont track bbt and the times i had a test it showed i do ovulate. But my cycles are always on the longer side. Its so frustrating as endocrinologist also tells me my thyroid is under control x x
Have you been able to get TSH less than 2? FT4 and FT3 a decent way long the range? Ferritin and iron checked and treated? Recommended to have Ferritin between 90-110 for the thyroid. Vitamin D in range? B12 and Folate all decent levels?
How about thyroid antibodies? Are you doing anything to reduce those? As close to 0 as possible. Not easy but lower levels are better than higher ones.
Posting these again:
I’d also recommend reading up on these articles. According to Dr Izabella Wentz, known as The Thyroid Pharmacist, your TSH should be no more than 2.
These two articles by her are about the thyroid and pregnancy and are invaluable:
Hi lovely. Im forever thankful to you for this and your last post. After my Hashimoto diagnosis i did alot of research (following your recommendations and the ones on thyroid group)
My tsh is typically around 0.5 nowadays on 100mg levo.
My folate and b12 were in higher ranges
Only my ferritin (47) and vit d were low which ive been supplementing and trying to incorporate more meat etc in my diet.
I tried less gluten but didnt notice much changes but will be back on it after december.
Thyroid antibodies last time was around 100. My understanding is that they change so not retested.
Re reading Her first article mentions DHEA which i ordered but was scared to take prior to my fresh round. She does mention it lowered the antibodies (didnt pick this up before) so something to research perhaps and perhaps. X x x x
Hey, sorry for repeating stuff just trying to help. Really don't know much about the effect DHEA would have. Would be worth testing before you try more hormones. Interesting to see the connection between DHEA and antibodies too. Will have to investigate further.
Hi I'm in the same boat, I was told I ovulated from the right ovary last month, but my ovulation kit tells me that I didn't or there wasn't enough LH in my body. I'm again checking this month and at day 13 of my cycle but ovulation stick stil showing negative...its so frustrating.🤦♀️
Hey lovely. Thats interesting isnt it. How long was your cycle that month? Mine can vary between 27 and 65. I was convinced i didnt ovulate and if you look it up everyone says luteal phase dont change you ovulated late or not at all. Its frustrating when doc said you did. Wonder if its hormonal somehow? Also if your cycles 28. Would you not get you surge before cd13? X x x
No idea if this happens in people but in animals there is such a thing as a persistent corpus luteum, where it decides it does not want to break down when it should at the proper time in the absence of pregnancy. We would treat them with an injection to trigger luteolysis but I'm afraid I have not idea how these get managed in people! What did your clinic say about it? xx
That is so interesting! I did wonder if my egg collection two months before had anything to do with it. Although i would get these long cycles without ivf too.
The scan wasnt done by my clinic but a private gynaecologist as im in the process of doing some recurrent miscarriage tests. I was hopeful when he very clearly said i ovulated. But didnt expected cycle to be wacky nevertheless (its just a never ending rollercoaster). I will ask him if i see him again. Its just frustrating when they just say But Ivf will fix that anyway x x x
Might be different to what you are dealing with, but I think I normally do not ovulate. Before we started our IVF cycle, I went into the clinic for a scan because I was on day 24 and still no period, and they confirmed that I was just nearing ovulation. I got a trigger shot to speed things along, and from then 14 days until period - so around 40 days a cycle when I do ovulate (and maybe 20 days when I do not), which matches my experience from cycle tracking.
Hey Ifren. That was what most girls experience from my research on internet. And i always thought that my long cycles are because i didnt ovulate or ovulated late. But the frustrating bit is that the ovulation was confirmed and theoretically luteal phase shouldnt be longer than 14-17 days.
Did they recommend you clomid? This shortened my cycles to textbook 28 days. I did 6 rounds and everything was clockwork. It didnt work for me but it does wonders for some girls. X x x
Ahhh now I see what you mean! No, anything but ICSI off the cards for us anyway so whether/when I ovulate only makes a difference when it comes to how long it takes to start a new cycle.
