hi hope you’re all well and keeping strong in your journeys xx

This is the first time I’ve been prescribed Lubion injections, and it has been ok although a bit painful afterwards on the zone, I have not seen bruises but today I’ve a notorious bump 😳. Just wondering if you’d have any tips for this, perhaps i’m doing something wrong ?

Many thanks for your help ! Sending you loads of luck , I hope you’re all getting closer to the positive outcome you all deserve xx

This has been asked a couple of times recently (which suggests it's pretty common experience) so maybe have a search as there should be some very reassuring responses. But yes, lubion was definitely the worst injection for me - it stung, caused a big raised and spreading red rash from where I did it right down my thigh, and often a lump around the site too. And sometimes it really hurt going down through my thigh muscle and stung and cramped at the same time! I was doing it twice a day and it got better but was never really comfortable and always stung, although pinching the fat and holding it, then massaging straightaway seemed to help a bit. I was thrilled to come off them at 10 weeks. It's a good idea to raise this with your clinic though just to make sure sure it's not a serious reaction

Thank you very much for sharing your experience Mrs Orangejuice! Always so helpful , I really appreciate it , at least I know is not an uncommon reaction, I’ll ring the clinic Monday to see if they have any practical tips. I was just worried that it could be something I’m doing wrong, I have quite a lot of them to do still (I imagine a belly full of bumps by the end of it 😂) so I thought better to check, I’ll have a look for the other posts.

I hope your pregnancy is going well and you have been able to enjoy it a bit more xx all the best of luck xx

I think they're just horrible injections, and no way I could have done them in my stomach - maybe see what they say about doing them in your thighs then you could see if that helps (if my description hasn't put you off!)?Thank you for the well wishes - all good x

Yes they aren't fun !, I just re read your first message, I had understood you were having it on the belly and the reaction was going to your leg 😂😂 either way it sounds awful plus twice a day ! , to be honest I’d happily do that if it makes it work !! I got worried since last FET that progesterone was on the low side, still not sure now whether it has improved as I have no progesterone symptoms yet , but at least I’m trying something this time! The joys of ivf 😂😂 thanks so much again , I’ll try to Google the thigh injection

Haha, yes that would have been extreme!

I find these injections can be super painful as well. For me it’s more bearable only doing in thighs and after you inject by rubbing really hard for a few minutes otherwise ends up super painful. If I do it in my tummy it’s agony for about 3/4 days and no idea why 🤷‍♀️ so I avoid!

They aren’t the best! Are you having a transfer soon? Good luck 🍀

Hi Cutecolliedog thanks for sharing these tips, it’s reassuring to hear it’s not only me ! I’ll try rubbing afterwards, I’ve only done them in the belly and I agree it’s uncomfortable whatever jeans I wear keep pressing the sore area haha I had the FET last Tuesday, only started the injections then as my test results came low. Are you also on the 2ww?? How are you feeling so far ? All the best of luck xx

yeh I’d try in thighs, usually the fatter bit? Seems to be less painful. Still some days it ends up sore but it’s definitely much better if you violently rub it afterwards 🤣

I’m on 8dp5dt the agony of the wait 🙈 I was planning on testing tomorrow so getting quite nervous …. Eek how are you feeling??

Thank you! I’ll give it a try xx

Oh wow you’re nearly there, I’ll keep everything crossed for you 🤞🏼, what’s your official test date ? My clinic said to test on day 13!! I’m sure it was 12 last time , feels ages away , so I’m trying to pretend I’m not on this countdown yet , I think the earliest I’d test is next Saturday that would be 11dp5dt

All the best of luck you deserve the miracle xx

Yes my OTD is 14 days after transfer! So not till the 4th which is so far away 😬 but I think I should get a clear result either way tomorrow. Either a good line or if nothing/faint then it will be onto the next one. It’s quite nice at the beginning of 2WW I tried to see that I was PUPO and take the embryos nice places 🤣 I hope yours sticks too xx

I hope you get a strong line 🤞🏼🤞🏼 it’s a torturous wait !, I agree the beginning is bearable as you’re just on a blissful ignorance cloud 😂❤️, I’m just going to bury my head on work this week hopefully time will fly! All the best of luck for tomorrow 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Hiya, yes they’re the worst!! Have you tried warming the oil up first? Putting the vial in warm water for a minute. And then put a warm heat pa k on the injection site straight after to help the oil ‘move’. Hope that helps! Xx

Hi Gempuddleduck I hope you’re well, thank you for taking the time to share these tips, I haven’t tried doing that, I didn’t realise it was oil 😩😂, I’ll see how it goes . How are you feeling ? are you having a transfer soon or in your 2ww? Either way sending you loads of good luck xx

I’m feeling okay. Transfer is on Tuesday but started my injections on Thursday. Hope you feel better soon. I did them everyday for 12 weeks last time - they do get easier xx

I really don't think u need to do that with Lubion it's not like prontogest which you are advised to hold in your hand to warm first. I switched from prontogest to lubion partly because of that make sure they've given you the correct needles for it as it should be fairly small and thin.

Hi. I always injected them in my stomach. I was told to work my way round my stomach clockwise each time I injected so that you don’t keep injecting into the same place and gives your stomach time to heal. I was also injecting in the summer so maybe with it being winter the coldness of the oil isn’t helping. Good luck with everything x

Hi thank you for sharing this , I’m trying to alternate the spots and change sides every day , I hope you’re doing well , all the best of luck for your journey xx

Lubion was one of the easier injections for me, make sure you are alternating sides and not going back into where you've injected before until you don't have much choice.

Hi thank you very much for sharing this, I’ve tried to do that , only yesterday I got a bump so not sure if I did something wrong, hope you’re doing well in your journey, sending loads of luck your way xx

The only times I found lubion to sting a bit was when it was cold. I used to put the vial in my bra for a bit to bring it closer to body temperature and it made it much quicker to inject. Never had any bruises or bumps on my stomach, maybe just a bit itchy!

Hopewhite profile image

Ohh thank you for sharing this tip, I’ll try it tomorrow, I try to inject it slowly mainly because I feel resistance when I do it, but I’ll see if your trick can help with that. I just had the bump yesterday all other days just a very sore area afterwards, hopefully the bump was a one off. How are you doing ? Wishing you all the best of luck for your journey xx

NemoFish profile image
NemoFish in reply to Hopewhite

I think it’s the resistance that can make it hurt, it takes longer to inject so the needle is in your skin for longer and prone to being a bit wiggled about! I never tried it in my leg but stomach was usually all fine after I honed my technique! You’ll be a pro in no time! I’m currently 24+5 so not doing any injections now but you very much have my sympathy. I lived and breathed phone alarms all day long! X

Hi thank you again, I definitely think it might have to go with my jabbing skills 😂 hopefully I’ll soon get better at it. Huge congratulations on your pregnancy! I hope everything is going smoothly and you can relax and enjoy a little bit , must feel great to finally come off all the medicines!!

Just to add to the great tips by the others- make sure you’re going in with sharpest point of the needle and hold the skin you’re going to inject into taut and just go slowly! xx

Hopewhite in reply to Elmo13

Hi Elmo thank you so much for sharing this, I’ve been pinching the skin but will try to make it tighter tomorrow and see if that helps. I hope you’re doing well in your journey sending you loads of good luck xx

same advise as everyone else really,

Defo warming it beforehand. I left the vial on a hot water bottle for a few mins beforehand.

Injection slowly and apply pressure straight afterward removing needle , pressure/ massage /rotation movement for about 5 mins .

Worked for me . Hope you got in better today x

Hi lovely, hope you’re well, thank you very much for sharing these tips, it was a bit better today, I didn’t heat it but have done the massaging and it seems to have helped, at least I didn’t get the bump 😂. I hope you’re doing well in your journey, sending you loads of good luck xx

I find the lubion a lot easier than the tinzaparin I’m also on I think it’s because the needle is a lot thinner. Not sure whether it could be that? But yes just what everyone else says I warm it up beforehand and inject slowly and it’s only ever bothered me once

Hopewhite profile image
Hopewhite in reply to Victoria27

Many thanks for sharing Victoria, yes the thin needle definitely makes things much easier!, i've tried warming it up with my body temperature today, and it did help for the liquid to go a bit easier, it's still sore but at least I didn't get the bump which is what worried me.

I hope you're doing well in your journey, are you having a transfer soon? wishing you all the best of luck, i hope you get the positive outcome you deserve xx
