Twins with two embryo transfer?

Next time I will have two embryos placed. Did anyone (40 or above) became pregnant to twins in this way? What are the chances?

it might be worth asking for clinics statistics for double transfers? They should be able to tell you and also let you know an age bracket as well x

Hi, there is a chance, a small chance of a multiple pregnancy in a double transfer for over 40s. There's also a chance with a single transfer when the embryo splits. Some clinics like to transfer to different grades to avoid multiples for those under 35. Definitely go for it to give yourself a better chance. I did. However, you would need to consider if you were pregnant with twins, do you have support? Twins carry risks but for me I would have loved twins even with complications having had a stillbirth at full-term. My inbox is open for any questions x

Best wishes

Thank you for sharing your experience. Congratulations with your baby.

May I ask how many IVF cycles did you have until 40?

Thank you, I had 3 fresh cycles and 1 frozen cycle and the first 2 were when I was 39

I had 3 frozen failed so far. I became too sick each time and still nobody is interested in finding the cause. We will soon go to Germany to try diagnosis. My next transfer will be two fresh embryos. Wish me luck please.

Thank you I appreciate it, the first 2 fresh cycles were day 5 third cycle was day 3 which resulted in a missed miscarriage and the 4th my frozen cycle was 2 day 5 embryos and I got pregnant to one of those embryos

I had 2 transferred (I was 38) and I have twins. I was told that half of the women who got pregnant and had double transfer will have twins. It might be unpopular what I say but twin pregnancy is more risky (I nearly died during the c-section) and raising twins is also a challenge unless you have a lot of help. Best of luck.

My mom got pregnant with 1 (my brother) after transfer of 3 (3 days old) embryos at 39. 15 years ago.

Hi. At 38 and 40 I have had two blastocysts transferred and only had one pregnancy each time. If you were in your 20s or early 30s, a double transfer would probably result in a double pregnancy.

Wonderful. Were they 3 day or 5 day blastocysts?
