Tonight, I reflect on my fertility journey.
I got married in my early 30's and came to England, but marriage did not work. I started working at a fast food restaurant, earning enough to cover my rent, food, and some little savings.
Of all I desire in life, family is number one. I moved on with my life and met another man. I started my fertility journey when I learned I had fibroids and was unable to get pregnant. I was scared of surgery; I had never had one before. The NHS put me on the waiting list for surgery for fibroid, which was successful. This gave me hope, but I was still not pregnant. Then I discovered I had blocked tubes; I can't remember which came first; my partner was fed up, and it took a toll on the relationship, and he left.
I started saving up, went to unblock the tube, which got blocked again, and money went down the drain. That was when I decided to go for IVF with donor sperm.
Savings was difficult with my job, so I put fertility issues aside, went to UNI., got a care job along the way, and started saving again. I graduated after 3 years and got a job with the NHS.
I did enough research on IVF using this beautiful platform, asked for good clinics and results, and I ended up with one. It was a hell of a journey. I was almost in my mid-40's. I used donor sperm, and it was successful the first time.
I look at my beautiful daughter, who was delivered via CS, in my arms tonight, with tears in my eyes, and all I can say is that I am happy. A very big thank you to this lovely platform and to the amazing people who post and contribute.
