Good Morning! Unfortunately after several failed icsi cycles, we are trying donor sperm. I have now reached 40y so not sure about my egg quality but we cannot continue with other cycle and having all embryos arrested at day 3. As a result, can I ask you what health matters should we consider when choosing donor sperm? It is a completely new world for us and would appreciate some support! Or could you please get in touch privately? I am just desperate for some support as it is a decision of a lifetime and we have so many questions! TIA

We used donor sperm for my now 8 year old and are now using donor embryos for a sibling as my eggs have given up the ghost (I’m 44 though and last round was when I was nearly 43 which I think is when you get the steepest drop off in quality.)
Feel free to message with any questions. We are in Australia, used a clinic recruited donor, had to wait a couple of months for access to the list of donors to choose someone.
hi, I used a sperm donor for my son as my partner has genetic kidney and heart disease.
The sperm bank had family trees for all the donors with health histories of all relatives. All donors are screened for a list of genetic diseases which you can ask for. They are likely to be younger than you as the cut off age I think is 35.
As far as I could tell, they document everything from allergies to eye sight to more serious conditions in the family. If there is anything you are concerned about, you can contact the sperm bank and they will find out for you. I used the ESB so only have that experience. I knew more about the sperm donors family history then I know about my own 😂😂
