When should I tell me manager I'm pregnant

I want to wait until 12 weeks before telling anybody I am pregnant, but I work with complex, vulnerable individuals, often lone-working, and am not sure whether I should tell my manager earlier than 12 weeks. We have had a lot of ups and downs with IVF and so I am feeling anxious about sharing the news too early.

I was in a similar position and was signed off then told them when I went back. I was full of anxiety due to the client group, lone visits and extremely unclean properties etc so was signed off

hi, I have a job which can be quite physically demanding and also can expose me to anaesthetic gases so I told my bosses at 5 weeks and asked them to keep it to themselves until I was past 16 weeks. They already knew about the IVF so that made it a bit easier but I felt better telling them early so there were no awkward excuses for not wanting to do certain tasks. I think whatever you feel comfortable with is right for you and you’ll know the right time x

I’d tell them so they can put safe guards in place. I’m planning on telling my boss just so I can say I’m pregnant I need to avoid stress!

I told my work manager at 6 weeks due to a large bleed and needing work adjustments to continue safely. They were really understanding and supportive.

I told my manager at 8 weeks but asked to not tell others until I was past the 12 week marker. Good luck, hope everything goes well for you. xx

I work in a role where my physical safety would be at risk and it's standard to tell managers about pregnancies early on. My manager knew I was having fertility treatment and I told them when I knew it had been successful. My role was immediately changed to a more suitable one and I didn't have to worry about my work causing harm to the baby. I hope all goes well for you.

I would share it now so they can do a risk assessment and keep you safe. I shared with my manager early it has unfortunately ended in a missed miscarriage for me but I dont regret telling my manager because I've been able to explain what's going on and they have been really supportive.
