Hi, does anyone know how to find a private nurse that can help with the injections? I feel like I won't be able to do it by my@selfšŸ„¹

youā€™ll be fine once youā€™ve done the first one then youā€™ll be wondering what you were ever worried about

Hi there

Which injections do you have to administer? Most of them are fine needles so you will hardly feel them ā˜ŗļø Iā€™m having to do intramuscular later in my cycle which are a little painful šŸ˜† xx

Hi, thank you!it is Menopur, hopefully I will be brave!

Youā€™ll be fine! I am needle phobic and I found doing it myself easier! The needles are so fine that once you piece the skin you donā€™t feel it. Itā€™s not going into a vein so you canā€™t do yourself any damage if you need them up either. Just follow the instructions (I found the videos only most helpful). Itā€™s the just one that is the scariest. Also, to top s friend share with me. To make it less sore, take the very tip of the needle and gently rub it over your skin on the side of your tummy you are to inject into and if thereā€™s a spot where you donā€™t feel it, thatā€™s a good spot to put it in šŸ™‚ youā€™ll be a master in no time! Also I always asked my husband to be there for supper and to help me set up and to have things like my camomile tea ready for afterwards.

Good luck xxx

hi there, I had this fear too. I promise that once youā€™ve done the first few itā€™s totally fine. Have you asked at your clinic? Often they will have a nurse give you instructions before you do the first oneā€¦ maybe they could help you by being with you as you do the first one?

Anyhow, I promise it gets easier and becomes so routine after a while. Youā€™ve got this xxx

Yes the nurse will explain me, I just do not feel self confident in using the syringe, šŸ«£... hopefully at least they can help me with the first one. Thank you for the support!

It is such a strange thought at first, I know. Sending you lots of love. You can do it! šŸ˜˜

Do you have a friend or family member who can help you? I'm not in the slightest bit squeamish about needles but when it came to jabbing myself I just couldn't do it. My husband had to do the first few jabs before I could do it myself!

Hi. Iā€™m single, and was also *freaking out* about doing the injections. The first evening I had to do one, I literally stood with the needle in my hand for about 10 mins before I could summon up the courage to jab it in. But - genuinely - it becomes second nature after youā€™ve done it a few times. Just grab a roll of fat (classy!), jab it in, pull it out - and youā€™re done. Iā€™m a real saddo, so I always rewarded myself with a big swig of Pepsi Max and a couple of cubes of chocolate afterwards (after telling myself that I was a bad ass). You got this! āœŠ

you can totally do it! Itā€™s a weird thing jabbing yourself but itā€™s honestly ok. You sort of have to overcome this weird feeling of putting it in your skin (for me it almost felt like 2 negative magnets pushing apart) as itā€™s so unnatural to do it to yourself! I found ice really helped - hold an ice cube on the area for a bit to numb it and you can even feel it really.

Iā€™ve never asked about numbing cream but you could ask the nurses about that also - I think lidocaine? I used it for a tattoo. Might help you if you arenā€™t worried about the pain.

Good luck! Itā€™s honestly a weird thought but youā€™ll be surprised what you are capable of. Plus I reckon it was better than DH jabbing me! I did ask him to do it initially but I kept jumping away šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Hi I have the same fear and haven't started my treatment yet but I did raise my concerns with my local GP and asked if their nursing team could help and they said yes. I have also read that using an ice pack on the area/frozen peas for 15-20mins before administering really helps as it numbs the area.

I had egg collection a few years ago, and got someone else (friends/family) to do them for me.

This time for transfer, for the first time, Iā€™m having clexane injections. I had my friend on standby last night for the first one as I was really sure I wouldnā€™t be able to do it. I usually have Prostap for down reg and the needle is HUGE as itā€™s intramuscular šŸ˜³ but the needle for the clexsane was so so fine I could hardly see it! I watched an online video, held an ice pack on the grab a fab part of my tummy for about 30 seconds and then just went for it. I actually said oh wow I didnā€™t even feel that as it went in!

Try not to think about it for too long. It was actually worse afterwards as it stung a bit. Unless you have a proper needle phobia I think you will be fine x

I thought Iā€™d be like this and had it all set up for my other half to do them but I couldnā€™t let them it was much much easier to do it myself and the menopur ones were not sore at all! The thought of it was so much worse than the reality. Also the clinic helped administer the first one and showed me how to do it so tell them your fears and they will defo help you through it all. You will likely be on them morning and night at times that it will be really hard to find an open clinic even if you do find a private nurse so a lot of extra hassle for you when I promise you itā€™s literally a minute out of your day and not sore at all to do them yourself! After the first one or two you will hardly even think about it šŸ¤—šŸ’œ xxx

I thought the same but honestly, you just do it. As soon as youā€™ve done the first one youā€™ll be ok, I watched lots of videos and had one playing whilst I did my first one and just took my time with it.

You can do it! They are super thin normally and honestly you can't feel them. I used to be like you, now I'm a pro lol x

my GP let me book an appointment with the practice nurse, so she could help teach me how to self inject my first injection, best wishes

If you dont think you can solo then definitely ask for help from local GP or the nursing team. Even having one done with them should help allay your fears. But I wanted to say, I have the same fear of needles with a healthy fainting ability and I didn't think I could do it on my own either. However, it helped remembering why I was doing it. The first one was absolutely terrifying and I had to psych myself up and read everything 5 times. But like others have said: find a nice fleshy part of your belly... there are definitely spots that are just easier to go into as the needle is so fine it will just slide in gently....you just need to go through your skin (that is honestly the hardest part - by all means ice but it wasn't the pain issue for me)...then breathe through it until it's up the hilt... you will be surprised how smoothly that can go. And even though the needle is really not sore (the medicine could be stingy sometimes) if you're like me the adrenaline rush can sometimes mean having an easy ability to lie back would be helpful ;) you'll be so proud of yourself afterwards :)

hey there, I had that fear and still do after 2 cycles! My husband had to learn to do them - ask a family member ideally someone who lives with you as some injections are early morning. The nurse at my clinic said they would do them as a last resort but that Iā€™d have to come in during working hours. Good luck!

I am terrified of Injections and have done ivf solo so had to inject myself... once you have done one you will be ok.. I also got nervous doing the second injection as it was a different size.

Only advice would be to squeeze/pinch your "fat" so that you don't feel it.. honestly I took half hour on facetime to my friends crying that I couldn't and then as soon as I done it I was like oh is that it šŸ˜…

Hi, they really arenā€™t as bad as you think - the build up is much worse!

Also, as a hypnotherapist, I would definitely recommend you look into having 1 or 2 sessions for this, it would make all the difference! Good luck xx
