Has anyone done these injections on themselves? Husband is going away so wonder if I can do or if I need to get someone else to help! Thanks x

Hiya

What injections are you taking ? Name?

Is it sub cutaneous or intramuscular ?

Simple answer is yes you can do it by yourself. Fairly easy but if you're very squeamish then you might need extra support X

Plenty of videos on YouTube etc showing you how to inject if you're worried

It’s prontogest. Done all of my other injections myself over the 3 cycles so used to needles but not done an intramuscular one but looked up some videos so will do it myself! Thanks for replying x

AHH I'll be on prontogest too next cycle and have done all my own previous injections

Not looking forward to it as supposed to be far more painful 😖

Make sure you use ice before or maybe Emla cream to numb it ?

Let me know please if you find a good training video x

You can do it yourself - I won’t lie, it’s not pleasant but just be swift and firm and you’ll be fine! I did all mine myself (for the same reason, partner away), you get used to it pretty quickly. Good luck!

I’ve taken Lentogest which I was advised to give in buttock or thigh. I can’t imagine anyone (maybe a nurse!) to give me injections so gave it to myself in a thigh. X

Hey. I am currently on prontogest and am struggling too! Hubby is away on a work ski trip!! (I know right) i called my local go and got a nurse to administer it for the first 2 days and today and until hubby returns from his trip on Sunday I used private GP. Compared to the money I already spent it was a no brainier to just get a doctor to do it. Where are you based? My issue with the oil injections is that the first time I tried it all leaked out. I got really worked up and the. Figured it would be 4 days of hell if I didn’t just make an arrangement to sort it. How many days post transfer are you? I am 3 days post a hatching 5 day blastocyst.. wish we could buddy up and give each other the shots!

Thanks I’ll be on a FET but probably skip pessaries and go straight to injections. Starting next week hopefully. Best of luck with the 2ww and hope you get a positive result!!

I was on prontogest and on a few days had to do it myself in the leg due to travelling with work. It was more painful but manageable. I did it first with my husband there in case I had an issue. I did most of the other injections myself. Massage your leg after the injection to help disperse the fluid to reduce the pain

I had to do some when my husband was away. Pretty straight forward, as others have said be firm and swift.

You will be so proud of yourself after! Best of luck :)
