My FET has been provisionally booked for the 5th Feb. Last time I took the next few days off. Has anyone gone back to work the next day and it been successful?

Did anyone go back to work the day after a FET and it was successful?
Yes me! Last year- I took the day of transfer off but back into to work as normal from the next day. Job not physically difficult and moderately stressful. Having the toddler as well it was all business as usual after transfer, I just had to get on with life for various reasons. The result is now 5.5 weeks old xx
Hi lovely,
I've gone back to work after all of my transfers - 5 failed, 1 worked.... I don't think it makes any difference at all xx
Yes, for my successful FET I took about half an hour off for the actual transfer and that was it. I was literally sat in the prep room in a robe on my laptop until they called me in. My job is not physical, although it was a 7hr round trip to the clinic and when I got home I went back into renovating a house in the evening.
My job isn’t physical either. I think I’ll probably go in xx
I think just do whatever you feel comfortable with. If it doesn't work and you'll regret not taking a day off it's probably not worth it. Just that I don't think it actually makes any difference if you don't have a manual job etc (even then, I guess your body would be used to it) and you shouldn't feel guilty or worry unnecessarily. Plus I found work a helpful distraction.
From a different perspective, I'm currently going through the dreaded wait (OTD Saturday) after a FET last Thursday. I have done two fresh cycles in the past (2019), first one I went back to work within a day or two of the embryo transfer, that was a BFN, second cycle I had two weeks off work and that was successful. I wouldn't say I attribute not being at work to the success obviously, the second cycle I got a 5 day blast, where as the first was a 3 day.
This time I have chosen to be off work again, although it has timed with some annual leave as well as taking some sick leave. My reason being that I have found work quite stressful lately and also there is a lot of illness that goes around our small office this time of year, so kind of wanted to reduce the risks from that if possible as only had the one frozen embryo available to transfer. I'm half regretting it though as I've not really got much to be getting on with and I feel like I'm going a bit crazy with the wait, so maybe work would have been a good distraction!
Ultimately, I would say do what feels right to you, I don't think there is a right or wrong answer, especially if your job isn't physical. Good luck!
I’ve had time off for all previous transfers (all unsuccessful) but I have a stressful job with risk of picking up infections so I didn’t want to put myself at risk. But if I had a different job I might have a different opinion so I think it’s just a personal choice, do what feels best for you x
Yep - went back to work a day or two after and my transfer worked! Previous transfer I always took time off and they never worked. My job isn’t physically demanding. Come again I wouldn’t have time off but that’s just from my personal experience.
I’ve done both and no right answer in terms of outcome. I have busted myself to show up at work while having treatment and when I look back.. I feel foolish for giving work a priority over my treatment, health and joy! it’s short term and life changing, do what feels good for you. Sorry for the rant,
Sincerely, all the best with treatment 🙏🏻
I’ve not had any success yet barr a chemical, but my job is really stressful (due to too much work caused by others I manage not doing their job properly). This time im having a massage a week before transfer to de-stress and work can just take a back seat! I’m lucky I have a good boss who also said the IVF is more important and don’t stress, so I’m going to make a real effort to not!
They say don’t have a massage right before transfer or in first trimester due to toxins being released. So it can’t be healthy with all that cortisol floating round my body if I’m stressed surely!
I’ve done both - straight back and time off. I have travel home time from Spain but then this time I'm planning on working from home and taking half day leave for the first week. It’s hard cause work is a distraction but then also causes stress!!!
Sending 👶🏼 ✨
went back to work about half an hour later 😂 then worked the next day then it was the weekend and then I had some time off for an already planned holiday which had a lot of walking and sightseeing on the successful one. I think if it’s gonna stick it’s gonna stick but relaxing is defo important for your mental health I just couldnt sit in the house though not working or not on hols etc it would drive me insane with over thinking 😊 xx
On my only successful round I went back to work half an hour later. Working from desk at home though. Good 🤞 luck x
I have had 5 rounds 2 chemical pregnancies and always took the time off work and slept straight after. Next time I am going to go back to work as I think the secret must be ( fingers crossed ) to distract yourself and maintain circulation to the body....
I’m currently deciding what to do also. I had fresh transfer first time and just had the day after off then went back to normal. I’ve booked the day off after my frozen transfer next week but don’t know whether to have any more days off. I don’t work a physical job but I am on my feet for 8 hours
me! I took a week off after my last one but went straight back after this one and have a FULL on job!!!! I just wanted to carry on as normal and try to keep busy. Got a positive test a few days later x
The Dr at the clinic advised me 24 hours off work after. I then told work the next day. I wouldn't preemp time off though as this would mean more annual leave you would need to take when actually it's a sick day just like if you had any procedure and needed sick leave for it.
I did, worked in the morning and had a transfer on afternoon in that day and back to work as normal on the next day . My little boy is 6 weeks old.
Wishing you all the best xx
