I work constant nights in my job, 7 nights on, 7 off (12hour shifts).
As far as I can work out its looking likely that my transfer day will be in the middle of my working week. Just wondering do you think its ok for me to work the night before, have the transfer the next morning and then go back to work later that night?
Or do I need to rest up? I cant book any leave so if I do take it off it'll have to be taken as sick and ill have to tell my bosses why and Id rather not fill them in on everything just yet.

I think it’s a personal choice. I went straight to work after and it was fine but I am someone who is best when distracted and staying busy. I know others who’ve needed to do nothing to relax etc. Perhaps make sure you don’t have much else on that week if you do choose to work so you can get as much rest around the date as possible. Best of luck whatever you choose! X
I went back to work after my 5 day fresh transfer and felt fine. Only reason I haven’t today on day 3 transfer is I am so sore from egg collection - but as you won’t have that I see no reason not to! Good luck! x
I think we tend to be extra cautious because we have so much invested in the process - but if it were a natural pregnancy it would be all going on in there with you carrying on as normal totally oblivious. If you have the transfer in the morning you'll be able to put your feet up for a good while before you have to work that night. Best of luck whatever you decide xxx
Obviously this is a personal choice. I had my transfer on Friday and couldn’t bear the though of dealing with the stress at work so did manage to change my shifts (my manager does know about my situation though).
More important though is how you going to get some rest in between shifts if you work all night and back again, in that case hopefully it will be done early morning just after finishing your shift...
I’ll give you the same advise this (great) community gave me when I asked (during a slight panicking moment): do whatever you fell the most comfortable with. This is your process and journey!
And legally I believe you don’t have to disclose the reason to be off sick unless it can jeopardise your job.
Best of luck with your transfer!!!
I took 3 days off work and rested on the sofa and trying not to move too much and the implantation was successful. I was told to take it easy so I decided that it was too important to go back to work straight away
You can tell them u not well. You don’t need to say it’s ivf
Thank you for all your replies.. I think I'm going to play it by ear but most likely I'll carry on with work as normal. That's my initial gut feeling anyway but I guess I just wanted some reassurance that I wasn't doing any harm by going straight back co
I agree its a personal choice. Im not sure what kind of job you do but you shouldnt do any heavy lifting so if you do go back to work try to take it easy if you can. If you have to call in work sick you dont have to say its IVF, make up some other reason.....sickness bug or something?! Good luck.xx
I agree with everyone here, it is a personal choice. I love my job and my boss - who is a close friend and does know - is nothing but supportive. However I took 2 weeks off during the whole process and I just chilled at home and did coursework. The transfer isn’t particularly gruelling and I didn’t have any side effects like from egg collection but whatever you feel like would be good for you - to get stuck back in or to just chill out. Remember no heavy lifting, nothing strenuous and I’d say most importantly whatever doesn’t stress you out the most. Take care and be easy on yourself xxxx
