Very short periods after fet

Dear all, was wondering whether anyone has experienced the same. I have started IVF last year and until now I have had 3 cycles. While getting ready for the fourth one I am worried about my period.

It has become very light. On the first day there's only brown discharge and on the second day very light bleeding. My menstrual cycle is regular 26-28 days.

I don't know if this is normal? I told my doctor and he didn't say anything.

After an unsuccessful IVF cycle, it's quite common for women to experience changes in their menstrual cycles, such as lighter or different periods than usual. Stress and the medications used in IVF can contribute to these changes. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!

Hi there, I’ve always had quite light periods post coming of the pill after years of being on it, but after a failed fresh transfer in Nov they seem to have become even lighter (2days max, very little flow). I had a thyroid blood test at my GP just to check the levels were ok, as apparently that can cause light period if you have an under / over active thyroid. They came back fine. I have mentioned it to the clinic in passing before and they’ve never seemed too concerned, I think so long as during IVF itself the meds work in getting your lining to the right place, then should be ok. But like you I have been concerned about the ‘why they are so light’. I’m going to mention it to my clinic and continue to monitor, but hopefully over coming months it becomes a bit more ‘regular’ for us both! x

Hi MiniCeeCeeThank you for the reply. I have mentioned as well to my doctor but he didn't pay any attention. I have hypothyroidism and I am treating it. Hope everything is fine for both of us 🤞 .

🤞🤞🤞 Also do you mind me asking how you got diagnosed for hypothyroidism? I had a TSH thyroid test which came back fine, but I’m wondering if I should be exploring any other thyroid tests? x

When I did my first IVF my TSH was 3.7 and my doctor after transfer gave me some medicine to treat it. On my second IVF treatment with a different doctor he didn't even check it. I had two transfers with three excellent embryos. I failed again. I checked my TSH it was 4.5. I went to another doctor to check and consulted some other doctors online they all said that my TSH is very high. Then before starting my third IVF, I went to a specialist doctor and they checked with ultrasound and blood tests. The doctor told me that my thyroid gland is very small which according to her was shrinked due to an infection I had some time. Now I am consulting with her cause my clinic said that they don't prescribe medication for thyroid and that I have to do it with a specialist.
