Hope you get a few replies to your post If not using ultrasound as a guide during transfer the clinic may suggest" a mock transfer" to see if any issue with using the catheter

Take care

Hi there. I've had 4 embryo transfers, 2 of them were guided by ultrasound on an empty bladder and 2 of them were not and were done on a full bladder. I felt a bit disheartened with the ones without the guided ultrasound as I thought it wouldn't be precise enough. I needn't have been as my last transfer, number 4 was done without the ultrasound and took about 5 minutes and it worked! I'm 12 weeks pregnant from that 4th transfer with no guided ultrasound. I asked on one of the transfers why they were doing it differently than the time before and the Dr said there were two methods, both equally successful, the one without the ultrasound used something called a Wallace catheter that measured the length of your uterus when inserted so they didn't need to see placement as it was done my measurements.

I hope this gives you hope as it really doesn't matter which method they use in my opinion, and the one without the guided ultrasound worked for me when we'd given up hope of ever having a successful transfer 🥰

All the luck In the world to you xxx

Thank you for taking the time to reply Ashley. Happy 12 weeks! When did they take the measurements? Ie on the day of transfer? Or before?

Aww thankyou. It doesn't feel real! So they do the measurements at transfer. They put the catheter which i presume has measurements on it through the cervix to the top of the uterus then the embryologist goes and gets the embryo and then they put the embryo in at the spot where they've done the right measurements. I remember googling IVF transfer with Wallace catheter and found a bit about it xxx

hello, I had a fresh embryo transfer in November without ultrasound guidance & I am currently 9+5. I think it depends on the clinic, patient history & the professional performing the procedure. As Ashley said the clinical team performing my transfer also mentioned measurements so they knew where the embryo needed to be. Wishing you well on your journey x
