Plan is to get scan and start injections on day one of withdrawal bleed from nohisterone - I will take this for 10 days 5mg twice daily. My last day of these falls on a Wednesday. I am booked in for the scan early Monday . Apparently I will bleed within 5 days of stopping tablets. I am aware this could be 2-3 days too? But am told to call and get a scan as soon as I start bleeding if this happens while on the tablets.
I feel anxious about stopping the tablets mid week as there is less chance of getting a scan at the weekend. What if I bleed on Sunday ? That would mean starting injections on day two. Could I take nohisterone for a few more days maybe ?! I would feel more comfortable stopping at the weekend or beginning of the week. Do I have to have my scan on day one of bleed or could I have it slightly before ?
I Started my last cycle on day 3 of bleed and it was a disaster as one follicle became dominant. I ended up with only three eggs and non reached day 5.
Thanks in advance to anyone who is kind enough to comment x

I take norethisterone due to no periods (PCOS) and when I do I have a seven day course as opposed to the ten days and also three tablets a day not two. Could you ask them if it’s possible to adjust the number of days you take them for or number of tablets? It might be there is a specific reason they want you to take them for ten days but surely it’s worth an ask 🙂 good luck!
Hi Cuppppatea , this sounds exactly like what I did. I stopped tablets on the Wednesday, started bleeding on Sunday and had my scan first thing on Monday. I started stims on Tuesday evening. The nurse told me this was perfect timing - she said they prefer some bleeding before the scan so they can check both total womb thickness and that it is "falling away" correctly, and they were aiming to start stims on day 3 for me. They can adjust the length of stims at the other end so I think that compensates for any delay at the start. What seems to be more important is the level of stims, and hopefully they have taken your prior issues into account in determining the right medication levels etc. I was on a standard dose (first cycle) and achieved 6 day 5 embryos with that timing. So missing a day or two at the start doesn't equal disaster. Fingers crossed it all works out well for you this time xx
Thanks for your reply. They have said I should defo be starting on day 1 this time. I’m wondering if I could just have an Injection teach appointment before / while on tablets. It can’t be too different to the injections from the first time. The first round was so bad I think I’m traumatised. Didn’t realise how badly it was all going at the time and can only really see that now. The stims have been changed totally so I’m hoping this is going to make for a better result. However i have been given a choice of two protocols - which is confusing in itself. I’ve posted those previously. X
Ah OK. Sorry, I thought it might be reassuring to hear the first day isn't critical but if you have been told to start day 1 then hearing my period came on day 4 probably didn't help! That sounds really sensible just to start at home and get checked ASAP afterwards when the clinic is opened. Let us know if they agree. Good news they have changed your stims and protocol so hopefully that makes the world of difference for you 🤞It is a minefield and so trial and error which I appreciate but it is not helpful when every shot we have could be the one!
