On 17th December we transferred 2 embryos. The nurse told us to test on 26th, which I’ve done and it’s negative they have only prescribed me enough progesterone till today, but does anyone think this is too early to be testing? Suppose I’m looking for a little hope. This was my first IVF, following a tubal tie years ago.

Am I testing too early?
Hi, were they 3 day embryos or 5day blastocysts ? I thinks it's early. I was told to test 15 days past transfer and it was a 5 day blastocyst.
Hi, my clinic does hcg blood test at 11 days past 5 day embryo transfer, I tested on day 9 and got a strong positive but maybe you have a late implanter, try again 48 hours and if not then I hope you have better luck next time, I also had my tubes tied which is why I went through ivf and I had to have 4 rounds before my successful pregnancy which I'm now 24 weeks and 1 day pregnant, it sometimes takes a few rounds before being successful
The earliest I have ever seen clinic recommendations for home testing is 9 days past 5 day transfer and that is considered early. Usually its around 13 or 14 days I think, unless a blood test is being carried out. For bloods my clinic will do at 9 or 10 days after 5 day transfer x x
Thank you, I am going to test again in 2 days ( which will be 11 days following transfer) I am at centre for life Newcastle England if anyone else has had the same experience?
Although it IS early, clinics usually go for 11 days or 13 days, by day 9 mine have always shown up if there was a positive (on an early test!) If you're using a normal strength test, I think it is early, and there is chance for it to change. Did you use the test they gave you? Or a sensitive one? I'm very sorry if it is a negative, such a horrid time, and all the disappointment over the festive period too. Took me 7 transfers to get pregnant, but a friend of mine just got pregnant first go, and another friend on the second. So it does happen xx
my clinic test on day 9 with a blood test.
My positive I saw quite strongly on day 7 so i imagine you would have a faint line at this point. Make sure you are using a sensitive test.
It’s odd they only gave you enough progesterone till today as if it was positive you’d need to carry on with it anyway.
The reason some clinics don’t test till later is because of chemical pregnancies as if you see a positive earlier it can still change to be negative if it is a chemical pregnancy.
Will keep everything crossed for you, and am sending hugs and strength- I’ve had many failed transfers before and it’s utterly heartbreaking. Xxx
Hi Spacey84,
I'm so sorry that you're going through this, a negative test after such an emotional journey is heartbreaking. When I had my first fresh transfer from a 5 day blastocyst I was told to test 11 days later, and 13 days with my frozen. I did however, test early with my frozen (8dpt) and it came up with a very faint positive, sadly I was told just last week that the pregnancy is non-viable and will be going for one last scan on Friday to confirm this. I do hope you get your positive outcome and the test was just slightly too early. Do let us know how it goes.
Sending you lots of luck 💓
I’m so so sorry if it’s a fresh transfer of a 5day old embryo it would have shown by day 9and 10 (fresh transfer at our clinic is 10 days later for test day but mine have always shown well before then) so I don’t want you to drag the agony and meds out any longer 😢 I hope you are okay and have support around you x
