IVF drugs and sensitive teeth

hello everyone.

This is my first post but I’ve loved the support from everyone else’s posts. You’ve all helped answer my questions and put my mind at ease throughout my journey so far.

I would like to know if anyone else has suffered from really sensitive teeth since they have been taking any IVF drugs. My teeth started to get super sensitive around the time I started taking Norethisterone and has continued ever since. To start with I didn’t think there was a connection between when the sensitive teeth started and when I started taking the drugs so not 100% sure it is linked.

Your thoughts on this would be most welcome!

Yes!! I don't get them permanently but every time I start a new cycle I get particularly sore gums at the back of my mouth. I hadn't put two and two together but for a long time I've had intermittent "wisdom teeth issues" and I'm now convinced it is hormone related.

Mine is all along the front at the top so very annoying when wanting to eat or drink! When did you notice the sensitivity stopping? I am just about to have my embryo transfer so currently the only drug I’m taking is Cyclogest.

Mine usually just lasts a week or so, although I'm just coming off the drugs and have them again today.

Thank you! I am going to mention this to my clinic nurses as it’s not just me that has experienced this so they may know what can be done to help.

hey! Did you get a response from your clinic nurses?

This is strange as for a week or more now my teeth have been really sensitive just on the right side of my mouth. We had a cancelled cycle recently and I never put it down to the drugs I was thinking I must be run down or there’s something wrong with my teeth or the cold weather or something!!! Now I’m wondering if it is the drugs - never put two and two together til I saw your post! Xxx

I ended up not asking the nurses. I had my embryo transfer on Saturday and since then the sensitivity of my teeth has gone! It must be that the drugs are finally out of my system and not effecting me any more. Or it’s been a strange coincidence that I just happened to have really sensitive teeth for a month!!

I'm so glad I found this thread. I'm not a sufferer of sensitive teeth but I've just had a FET and have wondered if the estrogen is causing me to have sensitive teeth - I'm talking even if I breathe in cold air or drink something moderately cold! Also best of luck with your transfer! X
