Natural cycle FET likely to be cancelled due to ovulation on small follicle. What does this mean about my eggs/ ovaries? Having a wobble

Oh it's been a trial. Last month my cycle was cancelled due to COVID and this month, my bloods show I'm due to ovulate but follicle is only 12mm.

I have been quite ill with Covid and pretty stressed getting ready to start a new job but was so hopeful to get this transfer done before Christmas but my body has failed me.

I feel really low as this is 5th and final embryo from our 1st round of IVF and I'm just so weary of it all and worried my ovaries are giving up the ghost.

Any reassurances would be gratefully received. Can you just have a dud month? Is stress likely to be the issue or my age (35)?

I wish the clinic had time to answer my questions but they're understaffed xx

Hi, I never did a natural FET and the reason for that was the risk of cancellation is far higher in natural FET’s for the reason you described. We even got material to read about it and so I wouldn’t have said your body is giving up the ghost, just maybe not ready for it this cycle.

Hey Minnie, I’m in a similar position. I’m doing a natural FET.

I did a post yday. I had a scan on Thursday - day 8 showing lining triple just over 5, dominant follicle 12.

I was told to test for ovulation over the weekend, come back Monday.

I had a positve opk on Sunday .. feeling ok about the scan yday ( I’ve had to cancel the last few cycles so have been super anxious and stressed) only to be told lining was still triple only 5,5 and the dominant follicle had either disappeared or shrunk ?! Wtf?

I’m so confused.

Had bloods done to confirm ovulation ( I’m worried it’s a false positive)

Clinic has said if I have they will go ahead with transfer.

What was your lining like? X

Sorry to hear of your uncertainties too. I hope you are feeling a bit better about everything. Sending love

My lining is 10mm, which is always the case but my hormones have been all over the place. Follicle is now 15mm, so almost there. I'm on my 5th visit to clinic this week to see if they can work out what is happening. The stress of it all has been intense this time as I had to cancel last cycle due to COVID and now getting ready to start a new job.

Take good care x

I’ve had a couple of cycles cancelled so totally understand your anxiety.

Sounds like things are heading in the right direction 🤞🏻

Wishing lots of luck xx

Have you spoken to your clinic? They may not be too concerned as you may still ovulate (just a bit late) or maybe you can still go ahead as your hormones may still be OK, and they can scan to see if there's a corpus luteum/fluid from that and check hormone levels. I was due to have a natural FET and my clinic warned me about the risk of having to cancel but this seemed to be more about the transfer day falling on a Sunday when they weren't open more than anything else, and all they were proposing to do was have me do an at home ovulation test and then come in 5 days later, no scans or anything, so I think some clinics monitor more closely than others. If there is any doubt, maybe you want to wait a month if it's your last frozen as if it doesn't work you may just beat yourself up, but I know how frustrating each delay is x

Thank you. I hope you are getting on okay - I have seen you've had a similar journey so far. I think I'm just ovulating late as follicle is growing but I am always led by clinic as I'm getting more anxious for everything to be just right with each embryo. The main concern was an early spike in LH, suggesting I might ovulate on a 10mm follicle, which then dropped away. Everything else is looking good but as you say, last embryo so all a bit tense. This will be my fifth visit to clinic this week to see if I have another LH surge, which is doing nothing for my stress levels. At this point, I'll be just glad for a final decision. Thank you for taking time to reply, it's much appreciated!

Yep, including starting a new job and getting covid! It's all a lot to deal with. Sounds like the follicle is growing well now so that's great (although a lot of appointments at the clinic - mine got me in for baselines and maybe one more per cycle, so seems like they're paying very close attention to you, which is good). I don't know if this helps in any small way, but I got pregnant the month I ovulated late (like day 19), so the slow growers can definitely be the one x
