Hi everyone, i wondered how active you were in the 2 weeks following an FET. What did and didn’t you do 1-2 days after, a few days later, a week later, etc? Did you stay at home or did you have days out? I’m struggling with so much anxiety about how much I should and shouldn’t be doing after my transfer, which plans to keep and which to cancel. The hospital just say no heavy lifting but can carry on generally as normal. My first transfer failed and second transfer worked but MC at 5 weeks. Any experiences much appreciated xx
Activity after FET: Hi everyone, i... - Fertility Network UK
Activity after FET
I've done a mix of both, rest and activity. I've found there's no pattern to it and had positive and negative results after both. My last fresh transfer we abroad and the day after we went sightseeing - I walked well over 10,000 steps - and we ended up with twins from the single embryo transfer. I joked it was all the walking! No idea if that had any impact but blood flowing is good. I'm a pretty active person anyway and I think research says its best to just carry on as normal. My only real advice is to do what you feel best as psychologically, you don't want to feel 'what if' and beat yourself up if it doesn't work. Not that I think you can do anything really to change the odds at that stage,
I went away for a week lots of walking but no heavy lifting I also worked the other week (I dont have a manual job) on the one that worked for us. I did everything as normal except drinking and heavy lifting. Ate what I wanted to etc. I really don’t think much of what we do has impact on whether it’s going to work our not in my experience (think I’m on transfer 1 billion at this point 🤣) it’s down to the wee embryo and the conditions of the womb at that stage x
On previous transfers I was very causcious….. time off work during the two weeks, Pilates only, no heavy lifting. They all ended up with failed transfers and a miscarriage at 6 weeks.
On my last transfer I decided to be more lax…no time off work, low impact aerobics, I went straight from the hospital Christmas shopping so carried bags. Continued with everything else, did do heavier stuff but nothing excessively heavy but carried shopping bags etc. That transfer worked so if it was me personally I’d do the same thing again and not take the precautions I had done previously but that’s just my opinion and what worked for my body.
Hi! Good luck with the TWW! With my successful FET, I took it easy for a couple of days after the transfer but then went back to normal, walking my dog etc, just no heavy lifting, jumping and such. I hope the embie sticks!
I really think you have to listen you body and go with what you are comfortable doing.
My first FET with 2ETF I took the first week off then went back to work.
Second FET I stayed home for two weeks. Stayed active around the house and went for walks.
My Third FET I took two days off then back to work.
Unfortunately all FETs where unsuccessful so I cannot say if anything I did contributed.
I’m currently planning another FET for early next year. I’m not sure if I will take time off or carry on as normal or work shorter days.
I know this is a fairly old thread but I just had a total meltdown and looking for some reassurance 🥹 my clinic didn’t say anything about heavy lifting and just said do everything you normally do, just no sex, no hot baths and no marathons. Today I tidied up after our electrician and carried the heavy Henry hoover up the stairs - I just wasn’t thinking, will this impact things?
