PCOS journey advice

I’m 28 and have been TTC for baby number 2 for 6 years. I was on Metformin for 4 years and the side effects were so brutal they advised me to stop. I’ve just had my second laparoscopy to remove a very large cyst which then gave me my first period after 2 years! My BMI is 34 which I am now trying so hard to decrease to a healthy level. I am due to start provera and another ovulating drug in a months time once I’m settled down from this surgery. I feel so unsupported and consumed by this journey by anyone professionally I have no clue where to go anymore! My blood results show nothing other than high testosterone levels which is in keeping with the facial/body hair which for me is extreme!! Hair loss, you name it I have it. Just want some support and any helpful advice from you lovely people! Thank you

Signed,

A very exhausted and beaten down being x

so sorry you are going through this. PCOS is a nightmare and the absolutely most frustrating thing. Have you ever tried taking myoinositol? There are quite a few research studies out there suggesting it works just as well as metformin for insulin resistance etc. might be worth discussing with doctors as an alternative to the metformin, as long as it doesn’t interfere with your upcoming cycle and meds?

Hi Marimoxo. Do have a look at our support groups for PCOS and a weigh5 loss group. You could talk to others who know what you are going through, which can only help. Keep an eye on the home page too where different events are featured, something there may appeal to you. Good luck. Diane

Hi! I am sorry you are struggling with PCOS. I have it too. As the previous post, I strongly recommend inositol. I took it for about a year and found it had a really positive effect on my periods, they became much more regular. I also made dietary changes, cutting out sugar. It is worth reading some of the books on PCOS, they have helpful advice about dietary and lifestyle changes. Very best of luck on your journey!

thank you so much for your comments. Inositol is something I feel I should try again with. The food cravings are my down fall!! but I need to remind myself why it’s so important for these changes and try my hardest to be stricter with myself. Luckily I have a supportive partner!
