Can we safely assume I'm not pregnant and have wine?!

It's 12 days since my fresh 5 day blastocyst transfer. The clinic says to wait 14 days to do a pregnancy test. I've tested a few times since day 9 with Clear Blue early detection digital tests. I'm not pregnant. Is there any possibility that this will change over the next two days? I don't feel remotely pregnant and I think it would show by now right? At the risk of sounding like a raging alcoholic I'm only asking because I'm going to see friends this evening and would like to be able to have a wine or two. Has anyone got a BFP after day 12? I know they call it a two week wait but this is technically 17 days past fertilisation so surely a negative is a negative by now... Thoughts?

Sorry you are in this position. Our clinic always said 14 days after transfer too but accepted a negative result 9 days after with heavy (like proper period) bleeding and I was told I could stop the meds then. I don’t know if that helps. I know some clinics test on day 11 though. You could call your clinic for advice?

As someone who is a bit of an anxious tester the first response early response ones are the ones that pick up any dot of a line in my experience. I have always found clear blue a bit hit and miss. So you could try another brand to be doubly doubly sure. Others say the opposite though. X

Thanks for your response. I dislike the digital tests. I much prefer the first response ones too it's just when I came to order on Amazon the clear blue delivered faster lol. I spotted on day 6 and 7 and since then that's stopped. The spotting was a very bright red to start out though, not like the spotting people tend to get during implantation. I genuinely don't think I am pregnant but it is weird that the spotting has stopped and not kicked in to a full period. Although all the meds ought to keep a period at bay right? I am mostly continuing the meds so I don't have my period this weekend but it does feel a bit sad and pointless to be jabbing away to support an embryo that doesn't exist 😑. I also can't wait to get back to the gym this week and just not act like a pregnant person who isn't even pregnant.

Hi, I'm having a transfer this weekend and my clinic have told me my OTD will be 12 days later. That said I've read about many who test positive a lot later!

Have you spoken to your clinic today? Ultimately its up to you and how you feel comfortable 😊

I'm an NHS patient, it's pretty hard to get hold of them :).

So sorry for your negative. I would think it would've shown up in a test by this point but obviously everyone's different? Couldn't clinic just do blood test to confirm either way ? Sorry I'm not much help but I did have spotting before period was due and in my case I was pregnant ( it always makes me think my period is coming but then doesn't!) I can understand it must be very annoying to feel life is on hold. Good luck🤗 Xx

Hey! I’m not near my clinic this weekend but as it’s the nhs I doubt they would. I drank last night (half a bottle of champs!). I haven’t tested today but I will test tomorrow although I do think it’s a waste of a pregnancy test. So looking forward to stopping my injections and meds and going back to being normal for a bit. Super keen to get back to reformer Pilates 😊. Obviously I would prefer to be pregnant but I am embracing non pregnant life for now!

I don't blame one bit. I would've done the same! There's plenty of women who drink far more than that who are unknowingly pregnant and babies are fine. Tests are so sensitive I would be surprised if it didn't show by that point if you were. It does seem mean to make you test that late 🤦🏻‍♀️ I hope you enjoyed yourself! Life is too short not to . I'm so sorry it wasn't better news for you and hope next one is your lucky embryo 🤗 infertility is crap. I😢 it took us 7 years to have our first daughter and I haven't forgotten just how tough it was for us especially when the world could fall around us making it look so easy . it took me 3 endometriosis surgeries to have Francesca who Is now 4 and have our youngest 19 month d daughter Eliza after a late loss and 2 early miscarriages. We went through total hell and back to have our girls. . Something that most people will take for granted . We didn't think we'd have one let alone anymore. Never give up hope. Hope pushes us through this madness! Xx

Wow that’s an epic story! It does amaze me how easy it seems for some to get pregnant. It doesn’t bother me but I do sometimes look at people and think “how are you the more fertile one?!” It amazes me. My cousin who has endometriosis, struggled a lot. Even more than me. Her and her partner honestly look like the worlds most healthy people and their behaviour matches. So sometimes it does baffle me a touch!

Have the wine 🍷 have all the wine 🍷🍷🍷

we always tested at day 11 and we’re just over the border from you in Brent. I think by day 12 it should be a fairly clear line! I’d go crazy and drink all the wines!! 🍷 🍷 🍷

I also second the first response tests. Definitely the best!

All the wines 😂. I went straight for the rose champagne. It’s like they haven’t considered how hard it is to wait. Surely every clinic should have the same wait time given that it’s just science. I might ask them about this when I next see them x

hi lovely, I’m so sorry, the chances would be very low. My clinic’s test day is day 10.

If I was you I would enjoy the wine!! If there is the slightest chance it’s worked then wine isn’t going to affect it anyway at this stage.

Sending strength xxx

I would agree that a negative is a negative by now sadly. I did 4 fresh transfers and the length of time for testing depended which nurse I got and was variously 10, 11, 12 or 14 days. Always negative for me sadly but I would just go for the glass of wine. It's not you are planning on drinking heavily and just think how many people don't find out they are pregnant and haven't planned it and will surely have had more than one glass of wine in that time so if a miracle happened and you get a positive result in 2 days time it is unlikelyto be the end of the world ! Xx
