Meriofert rather than Menopur?

Has anyone been prescribed Meriofer instead of Menopur injections? Was told i was having Menopur but have protocol through today and it has been changed to Meriofer, not sure why.

Any one else previously had this? Any side effects or differing results with this medication? Also notice this medication is much more expensive :-(

Thank you

Hi Exercise. Many specialists believe there will be more mature eggs retrieved with Meriofert. Good luck. Diane

I was prescribed Meriofert. I can’t tell you the difference but I did get 21 mature eggs, 19 fertilised and I ended up with 6 blastocysts. One has been transferred the other 5 are on ice. Wishing you the best of luck xxxx

Thank you, sounds like you had a great cycle!

Hiya. I’ve had 2 failed rounds on Ovaleap and they have switched me to meriofort - they said it’s a more natural drug and like Diane said they’re hoping I’ll have more mature eggs. Good luck xx

Hi. I was prescribed Meriofert for both of my cycles. I didn’t have any side effects. I had really good egg retrieval/mature/fertilisation numbers. I unfortunately didn’t have anything to transfer from both cycles - but I think that was due to age rather than the medication. Good luck x

Hi, I'm currently on Meriofert, no major side effects besides the initial sting. It is a small needle, I get some stinging and pain right after injecting which lasts for a few minutes but other than that no major issues.

Wishing you the best xx

Hi Exercise4Calm, I had Meriofert 225IU, I stimmed for 10 days with this then was ready for trigger with Gonasi. Symptom wise I would just say I felt bloated and little uncomfortable 5 days onwards, some headaches, and quite tired but that could’ve been other factors. I had 8 eggs retrieved, 5 fertilised.

This is my first cycle so I don’t have anything else to compare it to. Wishing you all the best with your journey :)

I have had meriofert when there was a shortage of menopur and found that my follicles grew quicker with meriofert. Hope this helps

I had Meriofert and Fostimon combo this time around and got 20 eggs, 17 of which were mature, at age 38. Worked really well for me! Xx

I’m having the same. Used Menopur in previous cycles but now been prescribed Meriofet as apparently there’s a national shortage. My clinic said it’s the same just a different brand and as I have one box of Menopur left from a previous cycle I can use them both on the same cycle of I want.

Best of luck to you x

I had menopur by mistake once. Meriofert is preferred by my clinic.

hi sorry to add a negative experience to all these positives! And please take with a pinch of salt as it seems most ppl’s experience is positive!

I’ve used Menopur on my first 2 cycles and had better results with 2 follicles (age 42) but they changed it to Meriofert 3rd cycle and only 1. Also no eggs so it was my worst cycle. It was also really fiddly to draw up and mix for each Meriofert injection every day as they ordered a smaller quantity for me to inject each day.

I found Menopur much easier and I had better response. It was also cheaper. In my Third cycle they said there were supply shortages so that’s why changed to Meriofert. If this is your first cycle it might be all fine just be mindful if it isn’t as for me Meriofert wasn’t helpful. Im possibly alot older though so please don’t rely on my response just thought I’d share so you get all sides.

Wish u good luck. X
