5th transfer done - tips for getting through next 10 days.

After 15 months of having a break and embryo banking, I’ve just had my 5th embryo transfer in my quest for my first baby. It was a 5ab frozen embryo transfer and now is the dreaded 10 day wait for pregnancy blood test. Any tips/advice on what worked for you getting through the wait? I find it so hard to think of anything else!

Also, I wanted to just wanted to take this moment to say this network is incredible. I read the posts every day and although we are going through such tough times, I’m honoured to be surrounded by such strong and admirable people. I hope everyone is doing ok and good luck whatever stage of the journey you are at. X

Sending you so much love and luck for this transfer.

I’ve had 4 transfers and not found the best way of getting through it yet. One tip I have is that I now write a diary. For me it helps to remember what my symptoms were for positive and negative tests - and really it shows they are all abit random. I hope number 5 is the lucky one for us both.

If you like reality tv, love is blind is distracting! If not two broke girls on 4od is good xxx

Thanks so much for your reply, I really appreciate it. Wishing you all the very best and praying that it’s lucky number 5 for you. Thanks for the recommendations, I just remembered that Virgin River (one of my favourites) returns this week so that should also help with the distraction. X

Hey lovely!

What a mission so far - I feel your pain - our 6th transfer was our lucky one.

My tips for the 2ww:

1) Take gentle walks / do some meditation or yoga - I found this really soothing every day and I even started listening to rainforest sounds (haha) which also helped to relax me

2) Make yourself a 2ww calendar - I bought myself a load of little gifts and opened one each day - I saved a big one for the beta day which helped take the edge off a bit!

3) Try not to google everything. You will feel 100,000 things that make you think you're pregnant, ignore them all - the only way you will know is when you have that test. Honestly I had so many false symptoms on the transfers that failed and the one that worked? Nothing. So if you feel something - acknowledge it and move on.

4) Plan some nice things for if it doesn't work. I don't like to think negatively but it really helped me to have a contingency plan and a weekend away booked!

Good luck! xx

Thanks so much for your really helpful reply. And congratulations! Such great ideas and advice. I’ve been guilty of googling too much in the past but I know not to read too much in to the symptoms as it can really go either way. I don’t like to wish my life away but really want to fast forward the next 10 days. Xx

You're welcome! Hope they help :)

Ah thank you - it was a long old road but we got there in the end.

I fully wished away every single 2ww! xx

Amazing. So happy for you! X

Millbanks suggestions are great. If you like them then I also would add reading a book you can lose yourself in (I read the Thursday murder club series during last 2WW after my 5th transfer) and also doing crafts while listening to audiobooks is great.

Mindfulness meditations and mindful nature walks is something that’s really helped me with my 4th and 5th 2WWs. Sending you love and strength

Hello! Just wanted to send some baby dust and fingers crossed for you. For me it really helped to think of each attempt as part of a bigger process that will eventually lead to a baby and not necessarily each attempt will lead to a baby. Xx

Hi Mcher. Thank you so much for replying. That’s a good way of looking at it. I hate to admit it but I do tend to go in to it feeling it won’t work after having 3 x BFN and 1 x early miscarriage. I know it’s important to try and think positive and keep focused on the end outcome. I wish I could reframe my feelings and switch off a bit while lying awake at 3am 🤣🤣. Xx

I know exactly what you mean, it is easier said then done. I think you're allowed to feel all the emotions. It really is a crazy ride. Xx

All sounds really positive

Mark the calendar each day with a positive thought , good deed , gift or beautiful pictures each day . This will remind you how positive you have been and send positive energy to your baby Sending you positive vibes and 🤞 for a happy outcome . 👶 xx

I’m also in the post transfer limbo land. I’m really not a patient person!! I’ve just moved house so I have been tidying and cleaning a bit (nothing extreme). I have also been watching Love Island USA and Poldark and I have been walking a bit. It’s not easy, I spend too much time posting on here and reading other people’s stories. It’s my birthday at the weekend and I’m going out for a roast dinner with my partner and to the theatre in the evening with friends. I am also going to shoot some reels for social media on Saturday (I’m a dating coach). Honestly though, all I really want to do is google, google google and constantly weigh up how pregnant I feel (not very!) 😂. My partner asked me the other day out of 10 how much this was on my mind. My answer was “9.5”. I asked him how much it was on his mind and he said “0”. Zero?! Zero?!!!!!! He has to be joking! 😂😂😂😂

Your last comment made me laugh! Men eh?!?! I tested it out on my partner and he said 4!! I’m around the same scale as you. It’s so consuming.

Happy birthday for the weekend. Sounds like you have some lovely plans to take your mind off things, if only a little. Plus it sounds like you need some fun plans as you sound like you’ve been busy with the house move and ivf.

I’ve got my test next Friday so going to try and keep busy over the weekend and with work next week.

I have everything crossed for you. Xx

I told him he couldn’t possibly be a zero. So he amended his number to a 1. I’m still disgusted 😆.

Hoping we’re both lucky this time. Sending tons of good energy your way 🍀.
