Fertility and Hormone Blood Tests

I am just wondering if there are any that someone may recommend? I think I am basically looking for a comprehensive test (at home preferably) that checks all the key things. There are a few available but some test offer different tests to others if you see what I mean.

I would be grateful for any idea.

Hi HealthStarDust. If you see your GP, he/she could get your basic essential hormones checked on Day2 or 3 of your period. Another one done on Day 21 to check progesterone level to confirm ovulation. There is one done any time of your cycle to check ovarian reserve, called AMH blood test. This one you have to pay for, but your GP should be able to arrange it. An AFC antral follicle count, which is a vaginal scan to check the follicles growing on your ovaries. Your husband/partner may be asked to provide a semen sample for analysis too. All except the AMH should be available on the NHS. Diane

Thank you. I was actually looking for a private one out of interest.

Hi HealthStarDust. I am not aware of any home tests that can give you good hormone profile results. But if you are in the UK, there are many private labs that offer fertility check packages. It involves blood tests on particular days of your cycle, and also other essentials like vit D and thyroid levels. Ultrasound you can arrange with them separately.

I can pm you the name of private laboratory that I used in the UK if you are interested.

It might be worth talking to an IVF clinic. Most of them will do all the necessary tests and scans privately and they know well what they are looking for, depending on your age and health profile. The HFEA has a great clinic comparator tool. Good luck!
