Edinburgh - fertility tests

Hi all! I'm new here and am hoping to get some help from you as I'm feeling really confused right now. I'm 39 and was due to have first fertility consultation with NHS in April this year following GP referral. This was cancelled obviously and I don't see us getting another initial appointment for a few months Does anyone have experience of getting privately funded fertility tests and IVF in Edinburgh? The only option seems to be going private through RI (which I presume will have a long waiting list) or one other clinic (edited). Is there anywhere else?

Sorry to hear that you're in limbo land! That's pretty much all there is in the area unfortunately! They pretty much have the whole of Scotland to themselves apart from the private sector through the NHS hospitals.xx

Thanks for the quick response! That's good to get confirmation - I thought I was missing something any my GP has been pretty useless with sharing information xx

Sorry I wish I could have been more help its all a bit rubbish! We're pretty much held over a barrel as there is not choice at all apart from where I mentioned (we're not supposed to name clinics so have edited my post), going abroad or England. xx

Oops..I hadn't realised we couldn't name clinics! Edited my post now. It does seem pretty rubbish and all this waiting around is killing me! Realise I have to be more proactive rather than waiting for a letter from NHS as that could take months!! x

Its for advertising reasons.....we get a "gentle reminder" now and again from admin. Have you contacted RI to find out where you are on the waiting list? Might be worth a shot.xx

I rang them the other day and all they said was that they're still deciding on the strategy for new patients but I guess it is worth clarifying where I am on the waiting list so I'm not totally in the dark x

Always worth an ask. You could also point out that you are 39, not sure if you would get any priority!xx
