6 weeks, bleeding and blood clots

I had a painless, edisode of bleeding that lasted no longer than 30 minutes and I passed a smaller clot and then a large blood clot. After this the bleeding stopped although I was so anxious each time I checked. This was at just over 6 weeks.

We were so worried and convinced that we had lost the pregnancy but had a early pregnancy scan 3 days after and have been told that its all okay and got to hear the heartbeat.

I wanted to post our experience as we googled for 3 days, only finding information about light spotting or bleeding. I couldn't really find anything about blood clots apart from painful cramping leading to miscarriages.

Our scan showed the cervix was closed so the bleeding was likely to be vaginal. Hard to determine the reason but could have even been caused by our progesterone pessaries (IVF).

This isnt to give anyone false hope either but may help others worried and googling about a similar situation, I think the lack of cramps and the fact that the bleeding had stopped were positivie signs xxx

i had to huge blood clots at wk62d. It happened all of a sudden one night, no pain and no cramps. I really panicked because I had two embryos transferred. Went for a scan next day and found out 2 beautiful heartbeats. So don’t stress out until you are not having cramps or pain. Today I am blessed with two beautiful daughters and they will be 3 months on 11th July.

Hi Michaelarobx. I expect you’ve been checked for infections. Try the pessaries in the back passage for a bit to give the front a rest. Good luck. Diane
