A sad story of mine....

I am so glad to find out a site like this where we can express ourselves.

Me (35) and my husband (40) have been married for 7 years and we never used protection but nothing happened ever since. We are healthy adults with BMI under 25 and my period is super normal. I have never missed my period since my childhood. Please can anyone suggest from where we should start?

hi there, sorry to hear you’ve been having difficulty conceiving. Since it’s been a few years now I’d suggest you get a referral from the GP to see a fertility specialist. The specialist will do all sorts of tests and suggest the best course of action for you, which may include IUI, timed intercourse or IVF depending on your circumstances. All the best xx

Thank you. Planning to do so x

since you’ve been trying so long definitely go straight to your GP and explain. You’ll be entitled to all the tests and probably entitled to help if you need ivf given how long you’ve been trying.

Hi Peacock08 , as the others have said, your Dr can advise you and should refer you for tests. Although everyone will be different, my initial fertility tests included an AMH blood test, a scan to count follicles, an a hycosy which checks your Fallopian tubes are open. I don't have a male partner, so I'm not sure hat kind of tests the dr might recommend for your husband though. Good luck, I wish you both all the best

Hi sorry you are experiencing difficulties conceiving. Both you and your husband should make appointments with GP for fertility tests. They will then advise you of your options based on both your results. Good luck x

My husband and I were in a similar situation although the NHS diagnostic waiting lists in our area were so long (18 months just for a consultation with a urologist) we paid to have the fertility diagnosis done privately so we just forwarded our results to the GP and got an immediate IVF referral. It was still a year start to finish before we started IVF. Hopefully your area is a better! See how long it'll take to get your tests done because if you have the spare money I think it's worth speeding things up for IVF. Good luck! Xx

I suggest you see a Fertility Awareness clinic to Learn to track your fertile phase in your cycle .Ask your Dr to check folate, vit D ,iron & active vitamin B12 .I have been teaching for 40 yrs & only recently as a midwife realised the importance of good nutrition in reproductive health.
