I started having red bleeding today. I went to the IVF clinic and they done a scan for me. They said little emby is fine, strong heart beat and is measuring well, but they cannot find the source of the bleeding. Has anyone else had this and it was all okay?
I'm worried its the start of something more sinister. xx

I haven't experienced this but I can imagine how worried you must be. It's reassuring that your little embryo is growing and has a strong heartbeat. Thinking of you.
I had it exactly on 7weeks pregnancy like proper period for few hours , had scan showed nothing abnormal then had spotting for 3 weeks .stress level was mad! All scan were ok and had no medical explanation .
I took it easy and been less active, rested a lot .I believe you may have this on and off with Ivf because it's mainly your meds keeping everything up until your placenta takes over..and progestrone sth cause this ( I was on good high dose ) also developing placenta and uterus initial expansion .
All I wanted to say is Dont worry about it I know how bad u may feel I been there and still panicking everytime I wipe but It doesn't mean anything bad it just ur body going trough a lot.
I think I had forgotten how much my body was going through and just carried on as normal. Rest is the best medicine so that’s what I’ll be doing from now on.
The thought of going to the toilet is frightening cos I just think oh no what if it has gotten worse.
It seems to be a common thing but still very frightening xx
Hi. I had a big bleed at 7 weeks. Really big, but usg showed all is good and all was good - the little embryo is 4 year old boy now. In the second pregnancy I had red spotting and some bleeding up to week 16. This was fine too and the boy is 3 months old . First was fresh cycle , second frozen.
hope all is ok… if you read the replies to my last posts you’ll see there’s plenty of ppl who’ve had bleeding and gone on to have successful pregnancies. sadly for me it was a miscarriage but others posts did give me hope and solace. Glad the scan revealed the healthy heartbeat and praying it stays that way xx
Hi! I had a large bleed at 6 weeks. Went for a private scan because the local EPU refused to see me, baby was all right, thank goodness! They didn't see anything else at the time. The following week I went for an early scan with my IVF clinic and they discovered a large subchorionic hematoma, which apparently is common in IVF pregnancies. Was told to take it easy, work from home if possible and immediately stop the baby aspirin that I was on. Thankfully the hematoma resolved itself by the 12 week scan. Good luck!
Aww im sorry you had to go through all of that! But it’s great news that you and baby are doing well. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me xxx
It could be an SCH. I had bleeding throughout my entire pregnancy. It was so nerve racking. Stay on top of your symptoms. If you are filling a pad get to the ER immediately. Next time you go for an ultrasound as them go scan you sideways also- to get different angels. This way if you do have a haemorrhage they will see it.
Hi Newmom1982, thank you for this. I always wonder what a heavy bleed is and everyone says it’s when you fill a pad quite quickly. Any blood makes us panic. I’ll be sure to ask them when I got for my next scan. Thank you x
yea I was confused also. It’s if you are filling a pad within an hour- that’s heavy. But honestly go get checked everytime. I had IC and didn’t know I was dilating. Don’t apologize to anyone for being over protective when it comes to your baby.
I also has a bleed at 7 weeks so clinic scanned me and everything was fine, baby had a heartbeat and was measuring what it should for my dates. They couldn’t see a reason for the bleed.
At 9 weeks I then had a massive bleed which I and everyone else assumed was me losing the baby but again when I was scanned the next day baby was fine and they found no reason for the bleed, putting it down to a subchorionic hemorrhage.
Im currently 32 weeks pregnant and have had no further bleeding since. Bleeding doesn’t always have to mean miscarriage and I was told these haemorrhages are more likely after IVF.
Hoping that reassures you a bit. Keeping everything crossed for you xx
Thank you so much! This gives me so much reassurance! My bleeding has now stopped so the panicking is over for now but I’m sure it won’t be long until something new happens.
I’m so sorry you had to go through all of that but I’m so glad you are nearly at the end of your pregnancy journey and you get to meet your beautiful baby soon xxx
