Falling and rising HCG

Hi all,

So, I’m in a bit of a panic ..

I’m in the middle of a miscarriage and my HCG levels have been falling and last week they were down to 24 ( they started at 203, and have dropped more then half on each blood test , 198, 96 , 24) I had a blood test today and they’ve gone up to 35.

I’ve had a scan today as I’ve had lots of pain on the left hand side, but they couldn’t see anything worrying and said on my previous scan that I had a corpus leteum hemorrhagic and on todays scan that’s had gone, so they suspect that this has caused the pain perhaps whilst breaking down.

They’ve said that HCG can sometimes go back up a little before it comes back down and they’re not too concerned as it’s not doubled and only gone up at 11 points.

I’m going on my honeymoon saturday which is much needed as this is my 4th miscarriage !

Has anyone had anything like this where HCG is up and down?

don’t have personal experience of this as I never tested bloods during a miscarriage, but I wanted to say I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I’ve had 4 miscarriages too. Your honeymoon sounds amazing and I hope it helps take your mind off all this xx

We are off to Mexico for 2 weeks so will be very much relaxing ! I’m sorry for your losses too, I feel like a failure and just think my baby is never going to stick ! X

i had something similar happen and i had retained tissue i was no longer pregnant after bleeding but some tissue had remained and was producing HCG it wasnt till i finally bled again it returned to normal

I’m sorry to hear of your experience , I had this with my 3rd miscarriage , my HCG would not go down for 7 weeks, once I’d had a period it went straight to 0! X

I've ever so sorry to my levels were like this with my naturally concived hetro topic pregnancy my I miscarrid twin a in my womb but twin b was growing in my left tube and wasn't seen on scans even internal only found out when preformed keyhole surgery so ask then to keep a very close eye x

I had my HCG levels stalling at some point around 880, then they started increasing again until over 5K. Sadly, it was an ectopic pregnancy, and I was also bleeding due to ruptured tube. So it was urgently removed by laparotomy.

I'm sorry you're going through this. However, your numbers are too low to be of concern as mine were 5 years ago. I wish you all the best for your journeys, both the fertility one and the honeymoon one!

I did think that the levels were too low for ectopic considering my HCG had dropped over half each blood test. They just mentioned as I had pain and the HCG had gone up and a pregnancy has never been seen this time, that I should attend A&E if pain gets worse and could be a very small ectopic - I hope not!

I’m back in tomorrow for bloods and I’m hoping they have resolved or at least dropped by half and under 20 as then I can be discharged and given the all clear to go to Mexico! X
