I tried going to see a special "fertility nutritionist" who charged about as much. It was awful. She couldn't see past the fact that I was a bit overweight (hypothyroid), and accused me over overeating even though I did not. Gave me a xeroxed piece of paper with generic diet advice on it. Proceed with caution.
I think everyone tries very hard to get pregnant by IVF by optimising whatever we could. I personally found it hard to lose weight since we need to eat nutritious food but lose weight too.Generic diet advice will not really help since we need to balance between eating nutritious food and lose weight at same time.
How about seeing a dietician?
I read about the difference between dietician and nutritionist in this website. Hope it helps.
I'm not looking for someone to see, and this was years ago. But thanks. I was only 10 lbs over my ideal weight but this was in NYC, and she assumed I wanted to be skinny skinny. At the time I was only eating two small meals a day and she accused me of lying. It was awful. Years ago now!
I’m sorry you had that experience luxfleur. That certainly doesn’t sound helpful, we are going through enough without someone trying to make us feeling bad about ourselves.
Tbh that’s what I’m worried about too, I’m planning on setting the meeting up as I want to tweak my diet rather than overhaul it and be miserable. I’ve been on this journey for years and need to find a way of improving what I eat without taking away the joy of food.
Sending love x
Hi Poppygarden can you please share with me any info you've got on this?. I am looking for a nutritionist as well. Thank you
