24 follicles - 13 eggs

I just had my second retrieval. The first I had 20 follicles at my last scan and they retrieved 18 eggs, 16 mature.

This time I responded better to the meds (possibly because I was not on birth control before stuns). I had 24 follicles at my last scan before trigger but they only collected 13 eggs.

Has anyone had this happen? I was incredibly disappointed as my eggs were frozen pending my finding a sperm donor. So I was hoping for at least 20 eggs for a good shot at some viable embryos. I just don’t understand how my retrieval result was so low.

Yes this has also happened to me. I had 12 decent sized follicles, yet they only managed to collect 7 eggs. And out of the 7 eggs,only 4 were mature. This was our 1st round and we were incredibly disappointed. I think it happens a lot unfortunately and I wish I knew why. I'm sure you are disappointed, but 13 eggs is still a great number of eggs to freeze!

Every cycle of treatment can be and frequently is entirely different from the one before Same can be said for number of eggs collected but remember 13 is still a good amount as the previous post says
