hi all. We are moving to DE and I’m with a Czech clinic. They’ve sent me my prescription by email. They said I might have some difficulty getting it in the UK. Did any of you experience this difficulty? It’s all in Czech apart from the name of the meds. If so, how did you overcome it? Also, did you have to pay for it, or did your NHS certificate cover it. I’m expecting it won’t… any tips or experiences are v welcome. Thank you 🙏

problems with prescriptions for treatment abroad?
My experience is that it must be posted to your house with a proper pen signature (Asda declined my Greek prescription, as he couldn't see the indentation on the page from the signature). I asked if I could get my clinic to email a new one, and he said the UK will not accept emailed prescriptions from abroad. I would also expect that they'll need to read all details on it - can you ask your clinic to translate it and post it to you?
I also did donor treatment in Czech. I got my medication from Asda but had to get the clinic to send me a prescription in the post (it looks the exact same but has a signature on it). It depends on the pharmacy though so I would call them first. The pharmacy also had slightly different names for some of the medication so I requested that the clinic use those names on the prescription. The clinic used Roman numerals for the quantities which neither I nor the pharmacy noticed at first so I almost ended up with only one of each.
This was all pre Brexit so it might be a bit more difficult. A lot of people get their medication delivered from a pharmacy attached to the clinic.
thanks very much. I’ll phone around a few pharmacies like you suggest. It’s helpful to hear of other experiences and how problems were overcome. I hope your treatment went/ is going well 💗
The pharmacy I used wanted the clinic to email it directly to them. I used fertility2u, stork, and had conversations with asda who accepted a prescription from me but didn't have the meds I needed at the time. Good luck
Hey Love,
I had my treatment in Cyprus and didn’t bring too much medication. I bought my prescription from Ali Pharmacy in East London. They charge me £35 to convert the prescription to UK. They also offer delivery.
I also had problems with the prescription. I ended up bringing tons of medication from Czech ( with a letter from the clinic just in case) and nobody asked on control nor at te gates for the plane. But I also brought some original prescriptions signed in blue ( just in case too) Asda accepted it. Hope this help
there are some pharmacies that will accept the digital prescriptions - like Ali’s pharmacy or Fertility Medication Centre.
Good luck
