Treatment abroad - help please

Hi everyone,

I haven’t posted on here for a while. My partner and I have decided to move on to egg donation due my age and low response to IVF with my own eggs. It’s been a difficult decision but I’m feeling hopeful.

I’m using a clinic in Spain, Alicante, called Ur Vistahermosa. I’m in a bit of a panic as my local clinic has said they won’t be able to help me with the scans etc in the UK as it’s not a partner clinic. I’m trying to find out about partner clinics in the UK for my clinic in Spain and struggling to get hold of anyone today.

I know we’re not able to discuss particular clinics on here, so if anyone has used this clinic, would you mind sending me a DM please? Or if you have any other advice on how this all works with treatment abroad, I would welcome any help as I feel a bit overwhelmed by it all! Many thanks 🙏 😊

Your clinic in Spain should help you in signposting you for scans and blood tests. I only have my experience to go by

I have has treatment in Greece and I live in Scotland. In Glasgow the biggest city of Scotland. The only private ivf clinic here does not cooperate with my clinic in Greece so the only option are the baby ultrasound places. There are two big chain ones with places all over UK. I will send you the names in PM

I second this response. I used ultra sound direct for scans and Medichecks for bloods.

I also used ultrasound direct when i had treatment in Greece. Medichecks are handy for bloods but these usually only need done prior to treatment. The scans are the big part and they're easy to sort out! Good luck.xx

Hi Cica. I’m sure you will eventually find out who their partner clinics are. Good luck. Diane

Thank you, that’s great you used your own dr. I have to have a decapeptyl injection administered by a doctor or nurse on day 16, not sure if this is usual or not? I’m going to ask my dr if they can do that, hopefully they can x

Hi, I used my NHS clinic but paid privately, this was my nearest clinic & saved us a lot of travel time. Check to see if any of the consultants at your local clinic works privately. My consultant (at my old NHS clinic), sees me at 7am in the morning. It’s really convenient. Good luck Xx

depending on where you live, there are lots of private clinics around the country who will do scans and blood tests - you obviously have to pay each time, but they don’t need to be partner clinics. They give you the results / report and you then send on to your clinic abroad.

Where in the country are you?

Thank you, I’m in the South East. I’ve spoken to a private scanning clinic near where I live and they said they’ll do it for me which is good 👍 my clinic in Spain has also reassured me that I won’t need to do any blood tests so I think I’m pretty much sorted. Thanks for everyone’s help, this forum is so supportive 😊 x
