2ww bleeding and cramps.. loosing hope

HiI had a 5 day blastocyst transferred sat 22nd, otd not till Thurs. Started spotting on Friday and turned into heavy red blood, almost 99% sure it's af and this cycle has failed 😔. We have 4 frozen so we can try again. Clinic has requested I continue pessaries until test day Thursday (I'm dreading doing the test and seeing those words) . I'm not sure whether to try and push for more progesterone as everything I'm reading suggests I shouldn't bleed before test day? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Hey there,

Sorry to hear this. I have experienced this and it’s absolutely heart breaking! I was so annoyed that I didn’t make it through to the Test date at least, so I feel your pain :(

Obvs there is still hope for you that you maybe ok though 🙏

My clinic didn’t really explain why this happnened , but like you I thought it could be the progesterone but I didn’t haven’t bloods Taken at the time.

Sending hope ✨ x

Thank you, yeah it's awful. Sorry you've been through it too.. it's rubbish to not even make it to test day 😕.I think I'm gonna speak with my clinic after Thursday and request to have injections plus the pessaries I'm already on X2 a day for my next FET. I'm not holding any hope for any come back from this cycle I don't think x

Hi Navy, I'm sorry to hear this, its awful not getting to test day. I had this on my first fresh transfer. I started bleeding and it was AF 4 days before test day. I asked my clinic about more progesterone for FET but consultant wouldn't (this was NHS not private). In happy news my 2nd FET was a success and my son. I was on the same level of progesterone, sometimes unfortunately it is a numbers game as my consultant said...although I can't stand that phrase when in the thick of it all! I hope your meeting transfer is successful, 4 in freezer is amazing x

Hi, thank you. Congratulations on your son. Yes we are lucky to have some reserved. This is my 3rd failed transfer, my first 2 I was with a different clinic 3 years ago. This time we are with an NHS clinic but self funded.. so with 4 frozen we can do 2 x double FET but it's taken a long time to save to get this far 😕, I keep reading articles which suggest low progesterone could be the cause but maybe it's just not meant to be this time... Will have to see what clinic says Thursday after test day x

Hi Navy. So sorry to hear this. It’s absolutely crushing, I’ve been there on one of my earlier cycles.

Definitely spk to your clinic about adding another form of progesterone for the next cycle. I was on pessaries and then added a Lubion injection, but really had to insist on this for my successive transfers.

It’s even more important with a FET that you’re on enough progesterone so definitely advocate for yourself. You’ve got 4 frozen which is great, fingers crossed the next one works.

Look after yourself.

X

Thank you, yes I think I'm really gonna push for it for next FET.🤞 X

So sorry to hear about the bleeding Navy88 😢 I have the same test day as you. Yes I would definitely suggest asking for injectable progesterone on top of the pessaries for your next transfer (some clinics will automatically put you on a higher dose for a FET anyway) Having said that I have asked my clinic before & they told me that sometimes, no matter how much progesterone you are on, if the cycle has not been successful you can begin your period earlier than test day. Please do continue with your drugs & test on Thur just to be sure this time though, as it is common to bleed early in IVF pregnancies 🤞

Thank you, yes I will hopefully clinic will listen 🤞.Good luck to you for test day Thursday 🤞 x

Hi, im in the same position as you, my test day is sunday but my clinic has said i can test on day 12 as i had i 5 day transfer. I too have had spotting a few days ago now heavier red today. I spoke with my clinic and they have doubled my progesterone. So if thats something you feel you want then push for it. Its such a horrible feeling though as i already feel its over for me. So i know how you are feeling.Thats so amazing that you have 4 frozen embies though. We have 1. So trying to keep my husbands positivity because this was going to be our last chance because of £ however the frozen one means we have another try. Its just such a hard journey. Everything crossed for you.

Thank you, yes it's awful isn't it .. feels like takes all the hope away before you even get to test day 😞.We are really lucky to have 4 frozen, we r same as u this is our only chance due to £, so to have 4 frozen is good .. just praying I won't need them 🙏

Fingers crossed for you for test day xx

I’m so sorry, I’ve got my period a few times before test day and it’s rubbish! (Although I’ve always tested early too so it wasn’t a surprise really) I am now on lubion as well as the pessaries and it’s helped with that aspect and I do t bleed now until after I stop the meds so might be worth asking about the lubion injection form as some people don’t absorb the pessaries as much as others. 4 Frosties is a good place to be though and hoping one of them is your miracle xx

Navy88 profile image
Navy88 in reply toTwiglet2

Thank you, yes I'm definitely gonna ask about Lubion for my next cycle, they are an NHS clinic so will see what they say. Yes it's not over yet 🤞🤞🤞xx

Hi Navy, I am sorry you are going through this, it happened to me on my first two cycles so I requested more progesterone and was put on 2 x 25mg of lubion a day along with the 3 x a day 200mg pessarys for my 3rd cycle and I didn't get any bleeding at all. My clinic didn't test my progesterone just said if made me feel better they would give me the extra progesterone as your body will only absorb what you need so you can't od on it. So if this cycle doesn't work for you definitely push for extra for next one.

Thank you. Yes I'm definitely going to ask x

Def ask, I had lubion on my recent nhs cycle and cyclocest, both x2/day . All the very best, I’ve had a recent failed cycle too. It’s so tough. Sending you best wishes 💗

So sorry to hear about the bleeding, I know exactly how it feels. On my 2nd frozen transfer I started bleeding 5 days post transfer and on day 7/8 ( was still bleeding) I took a bloodtest and my progesterone was extremely low. The clinic didn't ask me to do the bloodtest I did that on my own. For the next cycle I also took daily injections and didn't bleed until a couple days after test day and my progesterone levels were very good.

Navy88 profile image
Navy88 in reply toMcher

Thank you, yes I always seem to bleed before test day. I will definitely push for the injections x

Atleast it's good to do progesterone test, just for your own peace of mind x

It's so horrible isn't it 😞, have u got any frozen? The only thing keeping me going ATM is planning my next FET x

Rainbowretrieval profile image
Rainbowretrieval in reply toNavy88

Yes I have another 7 frozen, so I know I’m lucky in some respects but I’m struggling as it’s only happened today to understand what could have gone wrong with this one. It was an ultrasound transfer so we know it was placed in the correct location, my lining was thick, it was a euploid embryo as we got it tested. So all signs were good. I did have thrush a few weeks back following antibiotics after an infection from my last xfer which was an ectopic I had to have surgery on, so perhaps the balance in my uterus still isn’t right (I did take some over the counter canesten probiotics to try and restore it, but might not have worked) so that’s the only logical thing I can think of. But I suppose sometimes there are no answers. Are you going to have an appt with your consultant about next steps? Do you think you’ll go for another xfer on this new cycle now? Did you say you have another 4? Hard to think at the moment about yet another procedure in three weeks time but time isn’t really on my side so I have to do it x

Navy88 profile image
Navy88 in reply toRainbowretrieval

Wow 7 is really good .. yeah we have 4 frozen, had 12 collected, 8 fertilized, then had 5 develop to blastocyst. I know what you mean.. all the way through we've been told the eggs were really good quality, the lining was right, everything happened as it should .. it's so hard to accept that I can't control it. This is my 3rd failed transfer and the only thing I can see as a common thing is I've bled early on all so I'm hoping they will up my progesterone and at least that should keep the bleeding at bay 🤞.Annoying to have to wait till Thursday though before we can plan in our next FET, I hope they don't make me wait .. it's been 3 years of saving for us to get to this point and it's these transfers then that's it. No more fuel in the tank 🫣.

Wishing you lots of luck with your next cycle x

hey Im so sorry to hear that!! I did my very first fresh transfer (5-day super fat and fluffy embryo) and had no bleeding - only cramps. Made it to test day but they just called me this morning and Im not pregnant (I did home test in between and all of them were negative, so I kinda knew) :( I know how you feel and it's devastating no matter what!

Stay strong!! We will get there soon! I pray for everyone going through this - I know nobody deserves this pain and disappointment
