bloating and pain before embryo transfer. Need advice desperately

I need some advice desperately. I had an egg collection Friday where they got one egg. I am now due an embryo transfer tomorrow at 10am but my stomach has bloated so bad I feel like I have swallowed a whole watermelon and I have pain coming from my ovaries.and pelvic area.

I am so worried this will affect my embryo transfer success and that I might have mild OHSS. I have no one to contact as the clinic is closed!

I know OHSS is very unlikely as I only had two follicles but I had stims in March twice as I ovulated at egg collection for one cycle at the start of March and then my next cycle at the end of March was a cancelled cycle. So I don’t know.

Also I had a long walk yesterday as was told to get moving to help blood flow before the transfer so now I am scared I over did it as I was climbing stairs and went up a really big hill and I definitely pushed myself to much.

Just need some advice as going crazy with worry as with one embryo I don’t want to ruin my chances and this bloating and soreness doesn’t feel right.

Hi! Talk to your clinic when you go for transfer tomorrow - they can see on an ultrasound whether you have OHSS or not. I developed OHSS on day 5 after egg collection (they collected 22 eggs) and started having very painful cramps (I literally had to breathe through them) whilst I was waiting for a fresh transfer. I told the consultant and sure enough, she saw the liquid in my tummy on the ultrasound so we did a freeze all. I was advised to drink protein shakes/eat protein yoghurts a few times per day to help absorb the extra liquid. Hot water bottle helped too. If you think you have OHSS and you are bloated (measure your waist to see), the advice is to go to A&E to have yourself checked. I hope it isn't that and that you feel better tomorrow!

Thanks for your reply 🙂 It’s has calmed me knowing that they can check before the transfer tomorrow and if something is wrong they can freeze our one precious embryo. It just hard when I can’t contact the clinic as it’s Sunday and bank holiday tomorrow.

Thanks Eloquentia for thinking of me. The embryo is onboard! They checked me and said it was just bloating and so could go ahead with the transfer.

Now I just have to get through the TWW and already stressing about every pain in my abdomen.( this journey is so hard for everyone) It’s our last nhs round and only one embryo so well you know x
