Exercising during stimulation

Hi All, this probably sounds like a silly question but here goes…yesterday I started my stims for my last ever egg collection. For the last 8 weeks I’ve been doing the couch to 5K plan and am running for 30 mins, 3 times a week. I know they ask you to avoid strenuous excercise during stimulation. Does anyone have advice on whether this would be class as strenuous and I should stop running until I’ve recovered from egg collection.

I know many woman run when pregnant but also know we are at risk of ovarian torsion during stimulation and don’t want to risk anything that might negatively impact this last cycle.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Hello, the question of exercise is always on my mind during stimulation and I’ve asked nurses and doctors about it and always seem to get slightly different answers, so I’m still not completely sure! However, I’m under the belief that during stims we should only be doing light exercise. I was told there is risk of twisting an ovary, like you mentioned. Therefore, I’ve always stayed clear of running and do gentle yoga and walk a lot. Have you asked your clinic? Well done on the running btw. Best of luck x

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I did ask my clinic and she said jogging should be ok. I guess if I’m questioning it, there’s my answer. I don’t want to look back and regret anything so I think I’ll halt the running and stick to something more gentle. Xx

For me it wasn't worth the risk I stopped running from start of stims till official test day in the rounds I did since I've started running. To be honest I was too exhausted to run even if I wanted to 🤣. Did do a fair bit of walking instead.

Thanks for replying. Agree with you, it’s not worth the risk. The responses have helped me decide to stick to light exercise as I don’t want any regrets. X

I have always been told to listen to my body. I am quite a big fan of exercise so always exercised during stims until it became uncomfortable. I did step aerobics but cut out skipping which I love as it is high intensity. I think I generally stopped about a week after starting stims as that is around the time my ovaries grew and it felt uncomfortable.

I think many women here have continued to exercise during stims and gone on to have success like me but I will advise you to listen to your heart as you don’t want to do anything you will regret.

All the best with your cycle.

Hiya, I loved running but I stopped anything too strenuous during stims and stuck lower intensity so walking , light weights or yoga instead as I think gentle movement is positive for you and the process.

Wishing you lots of luck 🍀 xx
