Follicle count 6 days after starting stimulation.

Hi everyone :)

Had my scan this morning after six days of stimulation on Gonal F. They said I have 19 follicles. 10 of them are small, and 9 of them are good with 1 being 14mm. What do you guys think? Is this good? Some of them were 10mm and others 11mm. I don't know all the sizes though. She said they might bring my egg collection forward from next Wednesday to next Monday.

Hi KirstyC90. Sounds like you will in for an earlier egg collection, to hopefully prevent you from over stimulating. I would start to drink plenty of water now, to help prevent that from happening. Fingers crossed for egg collection and of course fertilisation. Thinking of you. Diane

Thank you! I have been drinking a lot of water, how does it help? I hope it is an earlier collection, I'm off work for summer holidays luckily but it would be nice to have a few extra days to chill! Worrying the collection will hurt! Xx

Hi KirstyC90. Drinking extra water is just in case any of your small follicles continue to grow after egg collection. If this happens, then they can leak fluid. We wee, poo and sweat, so if we leak as well we can lose too much body fluid! It's just a precaution. The extra fluid takes a while to break down and reabsorb, so can cause chestiness too. Hopefully all will be fine. Diane

Thanks Diane, do you think I might be at risk of over stimulation? I'm not really researched on what numbers are good/ too many ect as this is my first cycle so it's all new. Kirsty x

Hi KirstyC90.. At the moment a lo of the follicles are still small, but they will keep an eye on how they progress. The leading one should be at least 17-22mm. The clinic will watch what's ging on and warn you if they think it could happen. No need to panic just yet. Diane xx

I think that all sounds really good! My ovary on one side wasn’t reacting much at all so I was worried I wasn’t going to have many eggs, but everything came to life in the last few days and they got 8 mature eggs, 6 of which fertilised. Wishing you the best of luck for your treatment 😊🤞 Xx

Thank you, I only have one ovary anyway but thankfully it is working for me! I now have 19 with 10 small ones, and one that is 14mm! They might bring collection forward, hope so! Xx
