Failed IVF cycle (Blastocyst) after endometriosis surgery and low AMH value

Hi everyone,

I'm a 29-year-old woman who has been trying to conceive for the past five years without success. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and underwent surgery in November 2022. My AMH value was found to be 0.74, which is low for my age.

I started my first IVF treatment in March 2023 and had 6 to 8 follicles. Three eggs were retrieved and two were fertilized, both of which reached the blastocyst stage. I had two blastocysts transferred on April 5, but unfortunately, the transfer failed, and I got my period on April 17.

During the first three days after the transfer, I was almost on bed rest and barely some walking, but after that, I did few cooking and involved some bending on 2 to 3 days during two week wait. also Also took a long warm shower (around 1 hour) on the fourth or fifth day.

I'm wondering what could have caused the failed transfer and what I should take care of in my next IVF cycle. Also, if anyone has had a successful IVF cycle with endometriosis and low AMH value, I would be grateful to hear about your experience.

Thank you in advance for any insights or advice you can share!

Firstly do not blame yourself it has nothing to do with what you did or did not do during your 2WW .Have you discussed your concerns with your clinic -are there different protocols or further investigations they can suggest? Keep talking to your OH

Thinking of you

There is absolutely no way either of those things contributed to the outcome. Doctors don’t even suggest bed rest, so please don’t punish yourself. The whole IVF process is cruel so it’s impossible to know why things fail sometimes.

it’s defo not any of those things you did the outcome is down to either the embryos not being sustainable or the conditions not being quite right. Your clinic should be able to discuss what might have happened and try something different next round potentially but there is absolutely no way you should blame anything you did during the 2WW you have did everything right and you have came so far to get to this stage you should be proud of yourself 🤗💜 xx

I've had successful IVF with endometriosis. My clinic put me on a long protocol with down regulation (not sure if yours did) but I have seen others with endometriosis wishing they tired long protocol sooner.

Hi @Krishna - so sorry to hear, please don’t punish yourself you didn’t nothing wrong. I also have endo and my first (short protocol) didn’t work, I start my second round today with down regulation (long protocol) so have everything crossed. @Lunasa how long did you down reg for? And huge congratulations !!! X

Hey, try a d be kind to yourself, with time tou will get that which you seek. But I will advise you stay away from long warm shower during your 2ww. Not to say this caused it but for future transfer just consider it. All th3 best xx
