I am trying for a sibling after getting lucky on my first round, second transfer of IVF at 41. I am incredibly fortunate, lucky and grateful for this ☺️
I'm now 44 in 14 days! I have done 5 fresh rounds with my own eggs since last April - all BFN with 1 or 2 embryos transferred each time. I have only kept going as my AFC and AMH are good and I get 13-18 eggs collected. The quality however is poor.
I now have 1 fresh cycle with own eggs left and 2 frozen blastocysts to transfer. I will do era, Alice, NK cell tests before transferring.
Realistically I need a back up plan - which I've more or less decided will be donor eggs in North Cyprus. Please can anyone provide advice on this thread or PM me if clinics are mentioned. I would like to know:
- Recommendations for clinics offering tandem cycles IE with own eggs in parallel to donor. What is the cost of this?
- From what I've seen gender selection is possible, but they only look at certain genes for disorders. Has anybody used donor eggs, PGTA and gender selection?
- I've seen clinics offer 3 embryo transfers. With donor eggs I'd like to transfer one euploid embryo. Would the clinic be receptive to this? I think they transfer 3 to increase success rates..
- How long would it take up to starting the cycle? How long does donor matching take?
- It seems donor eggs are offered fresh. Has anybody done frozen eggs, and is the success rate a lot less? Is it cheaper?
(I've noticed the success rate in Czech Republic is half as high with donor frozen eggs? Presumably due to the vitrification process not being so good?)
-Does anybody have experience of the donor selection process? Does the quality of this vary by clinic? I'm assuming with all donor selection in any country you don't see pictures?
-Are any pre tests required e.g. scans, ECG, proof of partnership to mammogram etc.? I think extra tests are required at 45...
-Does anybody have any clinic recommendations? Price, quality and communication are important for me
-Is it easy to get from the airport to the clinic? I think we'd need to hire a car to get from the airport..
Thank you for any help
I'm crazily determined 🤣 and a planner!

Hi, we did donor eggs in Czech Republic. It was around €5000 plus my medication. You get all the eggs from your donor. I read somewhere that if you freeze eggs and thaw to fertilise, because eggs only have one cell, if that one cell gets damaged while thawing, you lose the egg. With frozen embryos, because they have multiple cells, if a cell gets damaged during thaw, the embryo can still continue to a viable pregnancy. This is why the success rate with frozen eggs is low but the success rate for frozen embryos is high.
Thank you so much for your response 😊 I've heard that less eggs survive freezing and embryo freezing is better, as you say they have more cells. What puzzles me is that success rates across countries for fresh and frozen embryo transfers are similar, apart from Czech Republic where the success rate for frozen donor embryos is only about 22% compared to 42% fresh. It's weird.
I hope you had success with your donor fresh eggs? Xx
The clinic I used in Czech had similar success rates for frozen donor transfers as fresh...I have twins from a fresh double transfer. It's the best thing I have ever done. X
Hi, I’m the same age as you and just returned from miracle ivf Cyprus. I’m 7dp5dt
I found the donor selection easy. They take in to consideration a photo of you and your preferences on eye colour hair colour etc and send you 3 to start off. If you were not happy then they send 3 more.
Dr Firdevs does tandem cycles - I just did donor.
I have a lot of faith in this clinic they had to guide me in to a second round of medication when my body wasn’t responding correctly. They could have continued and charged for two rounds but didn’t.
You can book a Hotel package including a free transfer from the airport. If you do it with the clinic you get your taxis to the hospital free. We chose to do it separately and saved quite a bit even with paying our own taxi transfers.
Our coordinator is amazing and always comes back to us with even the silliest questions. Never left us hanging!
Test day tomorrow 🤪 with bank holiday I may be forced to delay my blood test which is frustrating.
They give you three profiles (anonymity means never photos). One thing that made me want North Cyprus was that the donor will never have access to your details. In some countries you don’t get full anonymity.
They can turn you around really quickly and they only need around 4 weeks to sort everything with the donor and for your protocol.
I was in good contact with them since the new year. Was completely happy by end of January and was out there in March.
I wish you all the best too. If I can help further just let me know xx
Hi! Although I'm not using DE, I've heard that my clinic is top of the line with their egg donation protocol. I'm at dunya ivf in N. Cyprus. Hope this helps!
That's really helpful, thank you. I might try one more time with my own eggs if they accept me and if their success rates are good for older ladies, but I'm 44 now! I hope you've had a good experience with Dunya and that they are on their way to giving you a positive? X
Hello! Success rates for IVF clinics can vary, so it's important to research and find the best clinic for your needs. To help you make an informed decision, I recommend asking the following questions to the clinic to see if they meet your expectations: fertilityclinicsabroad.com/.... Additionally, if you're considering IVF clinics in Cyprus, you may find this list of the best IVF clinics in Cyprus helpful: fertilityclinicsabroad.com/.... I hope this information is useful to you!
Although I'm using my own eggs I still recommend for your donor egg treatment my clinic (I will PM you). I'm having my EC there this April 17 and I'm travelling to North Cyprus April 15.
