hi has anyone had the above? How was it treated? Or managed? I can’t have a transfer now or the era test until this is out :/
uterine polyp! : hi has anyone had the... - Fertility Network UK
uterine polyp!
Ask the clinic/doctor what they plan to do -they will be able to explain it to you It can be removed under local or GA by using a high -powered scope [hysteroscope]
Look after yourself

Hiya! I also had a polyp removal before transfer as it’s advised to do so before a transfer to avoid a miscarriage. It’s a very quick procedure done under general anesthesia. Unfortunately theres no treatment for it unless it falls off with a period. Wishing you the best of luck 💕
Hi there,
I’ve had a polyp and had it removed, I went under general and was all good. I had a hysteroscopy as Janet mentioned, which I think is a camera they look around with! They removed and tested (as a precaution) all came back fine and obviously i didn’t feel a thing
I did go privately just because I didn’t want to wait for ages so I got in pretty quick to get it whipped out!
Hope that helps. X
Hi there
Can I asked how long it took for your results to come back after your polyp was removed.
I had 2 removed on Tuesday under sedation and have to wait for the results before starting my next cycle.
I had one that was very small, I believe 7mm. It went away on its own-tried to remove at a second hysteroscopy and they could not find it (the first NHS gynae flat refused to remove it at the first hysteroscopy so I had to pay to have a second one to have it removed several months later). I had my successful round shortly after so even if there it did not interfere. Size and location are important. That said, after a BFN with it definitely there, I just wanted it out even though I was told it did not matter. Both hysteroscopies were conscious and had the polyp been removed it would be done without anaesthetic-they took a huge endometrial biopsy in the location of the polyp when they couldn’t find it Xx
thanks did you have any positive news after it was removed? Worried it’s wreacking havoc with my plans!
hi there! I had two uterine polyps and had to wait quite a long time for hysteroscopy, but when it did come around it was a really quick procedure and hardly felt a thing. This had to be done to remove any risk before transfer, although was around 1.5 years ago and they haven’t reappeared (it’s been a long journey!). I’m now in the 2WW after first FET! Good luck x
Depending on the size /location they may use general anesthetic .
I have had 3 hysteroscopy procedures to remove polyps of varying sizes and locations.
In my case they did interfere with my ttc journey (recurring miscarriages) as the polyps kept growing back.
Recovery time wasn't too long for me personally just a bit sore and some mild/moderate bleeding
Wishing you the best of luck ❤️
I also did the procedure 4 times, because polyps came back, I deal with reccurent implantation failure (5 failed transfers), chronic endometritis and endometrioma, it's really frustrating 😢
this is interesting thanks for sharing your story- I asked my dr if the polyps are linked to fibroids or endometriosis …not been diagnosed with this yet and I’ve cycled 5 x.
Do you know if it is linked to endo?
Hi poop,I was the same and I got it removed twice. When I was doing my egg collect the first and second cycle I had it and I got it removed now. It can be done easily don't worry about it but you can not do embryo transfer straight after,my doctor said I must wait three month at lest.
Hiya
it’s so frustrating when these things happen and transfers are delayed.
I had mine removed at a private hospital - you can go through the NHS (your clinic will refer you either way) or you can get it done privately - it depends if you are in a rush and your circumstances?
My transfer was also delayed a few months because of a polp. I had mine removed in December 22, my transfer was finally on 9th Feb and I got a BFP it was my 5th transfer… when they removed the polp they also did an endo scratch which may have helped.
Good luck and it will all be fine!
I had one removed, very similar situation to Purpledoggy. Couldn’t have fresh with picking up so late so had egg collection, then hysteroscopy the following month where they couldn’t find anything. Then had a natural fet which didn’t work, although possibly should have had progesterone with typically short cycles. Switched to plans for a medicated fet and on scans they could still see polyp showing so prescribed suprecur in the hope it would be easier to find with lining thinned out. They managed to find it in second hysteroscopy with a different doctor (under GA) although it had also shrunk with suprecur. Continued on meds for transfer but than got my period the day I went in for the final scan which was lucky! Definitely needed the break before going back on meds again. Started meds again the following cycle, just with estrogen then progesterone as I don’t tell well to suprecur, and had a BFP. So in general it took time but for good reason.
