I had slightly thicker brown spotting/discharge a short while ago so done a test thinking it’s my period trying to come through and just want to stop meds and get it over with (had no pregnancy symptoms) and to complete shock it looks like a positive. Quite faint but it’s not first wee of day.
I’d love to be excited but never will be due to second trimester loss.
Should I just continue as I am and retest on test day (Friday, day 14) or contact clinic now due to the light brown spotting?? My progesterone was low the day before transfer but if it’s worked it must have risen ok, I just don’t know if the spotting is implantation or old blood working it’s way out or if my progesterone needs checking!

I'd contact the clinic in case they recommend upping progesterone - but otherwise i'd keep on and test on official test day - I'm sorry, I know these early days are so nervewracking even with a positive xx
thank you, it is hard mentally but I’m also kind of numb, I think it’s a protection thing in case it goes wrong as it did so badly last time, so in my mind I’ve already decided this is a chemical, it’s just self preservation! Last time they told me to add in another injection when I spotted but I don’t want to add more bruises if it’s just from implantation and the levels are fine. I’ll have to contact them. Xx
Congratulations to you! I would definitely contact the clinic to see if they're happy to offer you a beta hCG test which you can then repeat after two days. My clinic would do this from 11dpt. This looks like a decent positive especially as it's not even morning urine based but only betas will give you a good indication this early on in the pregnancy. Please don't feel disheartened by the lack of symptoms, in all my five pregnancies (one living child) the 2WW always felt very similar to my period approaching. My clinic would retest my P4 levels on request after a positive pregnancy test. I am sure if you ask them to retest your levels now since they were on the low side at the point of transfer they wouldn't refuse if it helps to ease your anxiety? Wishing you the best of luck! X
Ah thanks, that is really helpful. It is good to know your symptoms were the same as pre period as that is my only sympton - feeling as though it will start any moment! Last time I had a postive they never tested anything - they increased my injections due to spotting without knowing the levels and I would really rather avoid that unless necessary this time, the bruising is bad enough let alone the cost of Lubion - double ouch! I will contact them now, thank you! x
Hi Trying6years. So sorry to hear your frustration. If you are using pessRies then that could be the reason for the discharge caused through irritation. Make sure you drink plenty of water and you are passing plenty of urine just in case an infection is brewing. You could try the pessaries in your back passage to give the front a rest. Test on the correct day and don’t worry about symptoms, they will come soon enough. Diane
i had success with duphaston which is oral progesterone. (On top of pessaries) My doc prescribed it when I had spotting. I kept having spotting until 11 weeks.
I would push for another progesterone test and ask if you can increase your dosage. I had recurrent early miscarriages and for my final transfer (4th), I ended up doubling my dosage at 4dp. I was taking Lubion injections twice daily, and pessaries twice daily too. The discharge is likely normal implantation bleeding etc but it might be worth increasing the progesterone dosage anyway, particularly if you have experienced loss before. My clinic wasn't fussed about progesterone tests as they aren't that accurate but I'm glad they agreed to increase my dosage after my levels came back low (they reluctantly agreed to test my levels 3 days after transfer). Feel free to read my past posts. Best of luck and keeping everything crossed for you xxx
Thanks for your help, sorry you experienced multiple losses that must have been a tough journey but you got there in the end! There has been no more spotting since this post but my back is hurting a lot so I still feel a bit concerned. I decided I will take another test in the morning as I will be 12dp (they wanted me to wait until 14dp but I will run out of Lubion by then anyway), and contact clinic straight away for blood test to check hcg and progesterone - they should agree as we are paying! So that is the plan now, I did not want to contact them yesterday and be told I tested too early and get upset so I have just tried to chill. I experienced tfmr/stillbirth and bled in that pregnancy quite a lot, so I am a bit anxious about any kind of bleeding. In the days of questioning how it all happened I was paranoid that all the progesterone had kept a pregnancy I was meant to miscarry (I bled heavily at one point) and even though they have said it was not the case it still is there in the back of my mind. So no history of miscarriage but this is only my third transfer and I am not getting my hopes up. I am already on x3 cyclogest a day + x1 Lubion so I would imagine that would be enough but it would be good to know rather than have it play on my mind xx
