Hi all, I went for a afc scan yesterday they found 5 follicles. The largest ones in each measuring 3mm each and the rest smaller. Will I be a good candidate to do ivf with these follicles? Many thanks in advance x
5 follicles : Hi all, I went for a afc... - Fertility Network UK
5 follicles
What did Dr/Nurse say? The AFC is meant to estimate the max number of follicles that can be "recruited" - meaning stimulated to grow during stim cycle. For most people 50%-75% are recruited. For me I was always lucky if I got close to 50% recruited. So it's a little bit up to you as to whether 1-5 eggs would be enough for you to go forward with stims/egg collection. Also keep in mind size doesn't particularly matter (for AFC) unless they are too big and have started releasing the chemicals that kill off other follicles (personally only ever been given a count, not told size at this stage). Lots of studies show AFC can vary based on the skill of the tech doing the count. My AFCs were usually 20-30, but one cycle I got 12 and was devastated...they "recounted" and I was in my typical range.
Others may have better advice.
Good luck!
Hi
We've spoken before and I think you have had monitoring of follicles on other months.
Looking back at a couple of your posts it seems you are conflicted about what to do next.
Have you spoken to a fertility clinic to get their thoughts on whether you are a candidate for IVF. This would be my next step unless you have already.
I know I have asked before this question. I'm going to call ivf clinic tomorrow hopefully. I also have calcification in the uterus, unsure what this means? Whether this is same as fibroids? Anyone have an idea? The clinic where I had the scan it was a local pregnancy clinic, so she had no idea lol.
Really really appreciate you lovely ladies. Honestly your like my best next thing xx
