Has anyone's cycle length shortened since taking Inositol? My cycle lengths are normally between 27 - 29 days but I started taking supplements at the start of January and I've now had a 23 and 21 day cycle.
The Zita West Inositol & Folate is the only new supplement I've introduced that's different to previous rounds.
I added this one to try and improve my egg quality before starting my final round of ICSI in April/May
I'm pretty sure inositol messed my cycles up too. They were shorter than normal and I also don't think I ovulated properly either. Ended up have 0 eggs collected the cycle after I had been using this for a few months. Can't say that was definitely why but cycles and ovulation went back to normal after i stopped taking it. 5 months later I got 9 eggs. I think inositol might be good for someone with PCOS but I'm not sold on its effectiveness for egg quality.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I've decided to stop taking it. It's just not worth the risk, especially as this will be my final attempt. Can you remember how long it took for your cycles to go back to normal length? I'm starting treatment early May
Hmmm that's a bit tricky because unfortunately the prostap I took for that disastrous cycle messed my cycles up further and I had a 55 day cycle which has never ever happened to me! What I can say is that I stopped taking it after 6 months mid July just before that crap cycle and my next cycle with the 9 eggs was end Nov. I think you should be good with a couple of months. I agree if you have any doubt stop taking it. I wish I'd stopped taking it sooner.
Im not sure we were taking it for the same reason but I was advised to take insitol as it showed promise pcos instead of metformin. My periods were a little more regular when taking it but I didn’t see much difference in length tbh. Perhaps speak to your consultant about it?
I’m also not sure it improves your egg quality on its own but your management of sugars which can impact egg quality is my understanding. This is the theory about why metformin helps with pregnancy for pcos too due to insulin resistance.
My periods are naturally 35 days plus though and I do think it helped a bit with that.
Inositol really helped regulate my cycles and shortened them by a couple of days from 31 to 28. I have PCOS and was very happy with its effects. Also took it in the run up to ICSI where we collected 18 eggs. Good luck!
Hi booboo, I took it for a couple of months prior to my last IVF and I didn't really see any difference in my cycle length but it was only a couple of months. A consultant recommended I take it which surprised me because I don't have PCOS but I do have higher AMH for my age. I never got big amounts of eggs only really 8/9 in previous cycles but I respond quickly to the meds and they grow quickly. This cycle was my best yet, the numbers were the same, 8 collected but 3 good quality blasts but I'm also 44 so that was a really good result for me. Again who knows if it was the inositol that made the difference as I was also on DHEA and higher coQ10. I suppose it depends why you started taking it, if it was for a specific reason or just to improve egg quality as it works for some. I think if you've a gut feeling that it's not working for you, you have to listen to that and have a no regrets mindset going into your next cycle. Listen to your body and what you feel works for you. Best of luck in your next cycle.
I was taking 400mg and upped it to 600mg ubiquinol during stims in previous cycles but one of the other posters on here said she was taking 300mg 3 times a day and I asked her what brand as it's just so expensive. She said her clinic recommended her brand even though it was ubiquinone but it is fermented so maybe that helps with the absorption. Anyway I took this dosage so basically 900mg a day for nearly 3 months beforehand.
