Update: day 3 & 4 post egg collection

Day 3: Despite the embryologist telling me no updates day 3-5, I couldn’t help myself and called anyway to find out how my embryos are doing. So it looks like only 4 are viable and have divided within ideal range (she didn’t specify what). The other 2 looked like they stopped progressing.

Day 4: Received a call from the nurse coordinator to say my transfer is still scheduled for day 5. However, she had no idea how the embryos were doing! I finally asked why no checks for day 3-5? She said it’s to not disturb the embryos as they are very sensitive and so less disturbance means less risk of them not making it. Now I bloody wish I hadn’t checked on day 3!!!

So it looks like a transfer for now and I won’t know if there are any left to transfer until tomorrow morning 😓😓😓. I’ve asked for a sedative as embryo transfers are so uncomfortable for me. Let’s hope it chills me out enough!!

Short protocol; 225 stim throughout. 

Day 0 (EC day): 10 eggs 🤯🤯🤯

Day 1: 6 embryos

Day 2: 6 embryos: 1 is 2 cell; 3 at 4 cell; 1 at 6 cell; 1 at 8 cell. NB ideal range for day two is cells between 2-6. Embryologist said no more checking days 3-5.

fingers crossed will be thinking of you. I remember this well, having to prepare as if it was going ahead - as like you I had sedation so was nil by mouth etc, and had all the anxiety that my 1 and only embryo might not make it and it would all be a waste of time! Ask them to call you first thing if they can xx 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I remember being given different information in different rounds about checking. I was told my second round they didn’t do updates after fertilisation but then in my 3rd, I had almost daily ones! My third round was best so I don’t think the checking did them any harm.

Yours all sound like they are going in the right direction!
