I'm looking for some advice on egg donation in the UK.
we've been trying to conceive for 5 years, 2 failed rounds of ivf and 6 rounds of clomid. I don't have a choice on clinic, as it's NHS funded. But the clinic haven't been forthcoming with info yet. I am so impatient! do you have to tell a child there from a donor egg? and does that child get information about the donor when they are 18? is there a huge waiting list in the UK? just trying to get my head around everything. thank you x

Hi katymcg, sorry to hear of your struggles ❤️ If you want to use donor egg in the Uk then it is what they call ‘ID release’ so the child will get the identifying info of the donor when they turn 18. Because of this there are not masses of willing donors in the UK so yes the waiting times can be lengthy. It is definitely advisable to be honest with the child as many donor conceived people who haven’t found out until later in life are really damaged by it. I would suggest implications counselling to start as well as checking out the Donor Conception Network who have loads of info & support.
