Hello, looking for some stories of hope! I had my fourth egg collection on Thursday and was delighted that they got 8 eggs (more than was expected). They called the next day to say 5 had fertilised normally. Just had a call (day 3) from clinic to say of those 5, 4 have the right number of cells for this stage but that 3 of those have had “an abnormal division of cells”. The embryologist said sometimes embryos are able to self correct and develop normally past this stage, but any time this has happened for us in the past they haven’t been viable for transfer.
Wondering if anyone has any stories where their embryos had an abnormal division of cells but self corrected and ended up in a pregnancy? I was feeling so hopeful and now worried that we might only have one left (I know it sometimes only takes one but that’s never been my experience!). Any stories of hope greatly welcomed!
We’re waiting on a call on day 5 with an update. Our original plan was to do a freeze all as I’ve never had success with fresh transfer, but we might need to rethink the plan depending on what happens over the next few days. Xx

hello, yes. My embryos had abnormal cell division and embryology said it was unlikely any would make it to blast. Amazingly, one self corrected and did make it to a day 6 blast. I had no hope and said please just put it in on a natural cycle, I can’t deal with all the drugs and more disappointment. I’m now 6 weeks. Best of luck. Xx
congratulations! Thanks so much for sharing your experience, it really helps to give me hope ❤️ so did you freeze it and transfer it in a later cycle? Wishing you all the very best in your pregnancy 😊 xx
Yes. On that cycle (my 4th as well) I got 10 eggs, 7 fertilised and they all divided. Like you, I was told only 1 had divided normally. I had that one and the second best one transferred on Day 2, which unfortunately resulted in my 2nd ectopic pregnancy. On Day 6, two had miraculously made it to blast and one of those was good enough to freeze, the other had to be discarded. I had the frozen one transferred a few months later and here I am! Fingers crossed for you xx
so sorry for all you’ve been through but so glad to hear it’s worked out for you. Thanks so much for sharing your story. I’ll find out tomorrow what they’re like at day 5, I’m a nervous wreck. It doesn’t get any easier does it?! Xx
