My transfer is today. Got a phone call and none are suitable to freeze, they will transfer a 3bb I’m feeling absolutely gutted to be honest. Any positive stories from this grade?
Update… They gave my embryos til day 6 and seems they progressed. 1 3bb and 1 4bb to freeze! I’m super chuffed with this😊

I have seen loads of pregnancies that resulted from a 3BB, its not a bad grade at all! I can understand your disappointment having built up to something and done all the drugs etc, but the reality is there are plenty of people who have had babies from 3BBs.
The main thing to remember about embryo grading is that its a moment in time snapshot. You have no idea what happened the moment they shut the incubator. Tomorrow it could be hatching.. its just at that moment its a 3BB.
My best ever embryo was a 3BC. My sister had a load of grade 5 embryos and she did transfer after transfer and they failed. Her 'worst' two embryos which were both 3 somethings resulted in her 1 year old and 3 year old!
I agree with Hidden I remember one of my embryos was graded an E (which is a very very poor embryo) and when I arrived at the clinic a few hours later it was a B. Different grading structure but you can see what I mean. It developed into a much better embryo later that day. Not only that but I have seen plenty of success stories from various grades of embryos xx
Thank you for your response, I guess I’ve taken it a little hard as 5 were grade 4 on day 3. It’s my first time so getting used to this rollercoaster xx
Latest frozen transfer was of a 3B-B- and a 1-2B-B-. Currently 13w0 (or 14w1 from my biologically unlikely dating scan 🤣). 3BB isn't a bad grade at all. Sending you all the sticky luck x
My 1st round I had a 3 day transfer none frozen but eggs needed to be more mature. They did make improvements for the 2nd Round as they tweaked the protocol and 1x5day blast. My egg collection is tomorrow for 3rd Round 🤔
I'm currently 25 weeks with twins after transferring our last and lowest grade embryos! A 3BB and a day 6 4CB. The rest didn't stick around and it was our fifth transfer so I can definitely vouch for 3BBs being pretty great 🥰 Best of luck. It's such a rollercoaster but there's no reason to feel disheartened by the embryo being transferred xx
Hi. I have the same embryo grade with you 3b, and none to freeze. But as they say, you only need one. My 3b embryo is now a 2 year old toddler. Hope this gives you hope. Good luck
Oh wow that’s amazing news, was this your first attempt? It’s my first time so I’m just hoping and praying! I lost my son 4 years ago and haven’t been able to fall since! Xx
I’m so sorry for your loss. Yes it was our first round. I remember being so worried about the grading, they originally rang at 8:30 to say it was a 1bc and I was gutted but by the time we got into clinic at 11:30 it was a 3bb so things can improve in a matter of hours. I was also told my progesterone was too high so was originally suppose to have a freeze all cycle as they said it wouldn’t likely stick if we went ahead, but because the embryos were “poor quality” we had to go ahead with the transfer or it would be an abandoned cycle. It’s such a rollercoaster I know it’s easier said than done but try to stay positive there’s always a chance it could work ✨
Thank you for your positive story my lovely. Yes I’m trying to stay positive and hopeful, and if it doesn’t work we give it our best shot again next time. Xx♥️
I had my first round of ivf/Icsi in June and had a fresh transfer of a 3bb and I’m nearly 10 weeks pregnant now. Good luck sending you loads of baby dust xx
Hi Woody, as others have also said here, I've read of plenty of women who've had success with this grade of embryo. An embryologist at your clinic will be able to tell you more about what this grade means, as clinics can use very different grading systems. At my clinic a BB is considered to be a good grade embryo, but it can differ depending on the clinic's individual grading system. Wishing you all the best for your transfer!
Thank you for the advice. I will be contacting them as they told me 10 out of 13 fertilised normally and on the form I have it said 13 fertilised normally. Maybe just slight error but for some reason I want to know. My transfer was yesterday so it’s that dreaded waiting game now xx
Hope you manage to get the info you need from them. I always find the embryologists at my clinic really helpful and informative, so I hope you have a similar experience. The 2 week wait is is really hard, I'm hoping it goes OK for you and results in good news. Xx
That’s brilliant ! I had a range of grades frozen at day 5 and a C grade frozen at day 6.
Transferred A grade embryos during my first 2 transfers which weren’t successful but my third transfer using an A grade and a C grade embryo has given me my beautiful twin boys 😍 so grading the is just a guide. My consultant told me
They only freeze gold standard embryos with the potential to make a baby x
