I’m looking for some advice. What’s the advice with FET.
I have a very thin lining so many cancelled transfers, however we are hoping to give a transfer a shot to see…I was wondering what the advice is when it comes to travel & exercise.
I am supposed to be doing a long haul flight for work trip on week 3 of transfer…is this advised?
Also, what’s the advice on exercise during 2WW & post? I’m normally very active, running, netball, CrossFit etc.
Finally, what day do they tend to transfer a 5 day blastocyst?
Thanks all x

Exercise leading up to your FET is absolutely fine and there is some evidence that it increases the blood flow and helps to build the uterine lining. I think the advice is patchy during the 2WW, typically clinics say take it easy. No excessive exercise, lifting etc. Though I’m never sure about this, women attempting to conceive naturally don’t rest in the second half of every cycle and they still get pregnant so I wonder if this advice is overly cautious. It’s a personal preference though and whatever you are comfortable with.
Regards flying, again I think it would be personal preference. I wouldn’t just in case something happened, like a bleed, and you wanted to get checked out for reassurance. Flying itself isn’t an issue I don’t think, just the level and access of care at the other end.
Sorry to hear you’ve had thin lining issues. I had so many cycles cancelled due to this, my body didn’t respond to the oestrogen tablets or patches even when I was on the highest dose.
I had read somewhere that doing exercise can impact the thickness so I stopped completely (like you I am usually very active) although I didn’t find that it made any difference.
Like you we just wanted to give it a go, and my consultant let me go ahead with a lining of 4.6 that was trilaminar in appearance. That cycle was successful and I have a happy, healthy little boy 🥰
I didn’t return to exercise until my second trimester, just for my own peace of mind really, I didn’t want to risk it, but I’m pretty sure it’s fine to if you feel up to it.
Once they had confirmed my lining I started cyclogest 2 days later and had the transfer a further 5 days later.
Hello, i was seeking advice also about exercise and I asked the clinic directly on transfer day and they said as long as you did the exercise before and it’s not high intensity it’s okay to do, I haven’t felt comfortable enough to go for a run but I have done walks and dance, good luck on your journey xx
Regarding flying, I am 2 weeks post transfer and I asked my Dr if it’s ok for me to fly next week as I have a holiday booked. She has advised against it but it could be my personal circumstances. I would recommended checking with your Dr.
the others have given some good advice. I was told to be very careful for the first three days of transfer then just light exercise for the rest of the 2 week window. Until you know. Flying i would avoid during this period just in case. There’s no day they that usually do transfer as it will be related to the day of your last period
